PRISM (Electronic Health Record) Training and Support Intern

The PRISM Training and Support team is committed to ensuring that University of Vermont Medical Center clinicians use the Electronic Health Record (PRISM) effectively to provide quality care to our patients.  We train new employees in system use; provide classes and demonstrations as new functionality is implemented; offer face-face support to those with specific questions or training needs; maintain a training environment where people can practice and hone their skills; create and publish tip sheets, guides, videos, and other learning materials on specific system functionality; test the system as bimonthly updates and patches are applied; and work with the IS service center to resolve help desk questions and issues.

We are a collaborative team, and pride ourselves on supporting each other while providing excellent customer service to our end users. We work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, where there are always new things to learn, new problems to solve, and new ideas for how to make things better.

We are looking for a summer intern to assist with the administrative tasks associated with EHR Training and Support while learning what’s involved in developing, maintaining and supporting a state-of-the art EHR.  Examples of the work performed include:

  • Set-up and maintain user accounts
  • Set-up New provider training
  • Enroll end-users in courses using the Learning Management System (e-learn)
  • Posting weekly communication and end-user Tip Sheets
  • Assemble and print training material  
  • Organize testing scenarios and manage testing schedules
  • Monitor phone and emails
  • Support New Resident and Fellows training (material preparation, course work monitoring, providing follow up instructions, e-learn enrollment)
  • Create, schedule and register test patients for application testing

Skills needed:

  • Customer-service focus; team-oriented approach
  • Familiarity with basic Office software: Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
