Registration Rep I (per diem)

Position Summary:

The Registration Representative is accountable for acquiring appropriate and billable patient demographic and Insurance Management data, while adhering to all federal, state and third party payer compliance and billing regulations.  Additionally, the Registration Representative is responsible for all aspects of Visit Management within the hospital information system.  The Registration Representative will assign and prioritize financial classes, verify insurance coverage, research and assign diagnosis and billing codes, obtain authorization to bill, consent to treat/admit and collect co-pays and deductibles as required.  The Registration Representative must maintain excellence in customer service and guest relations at all times, ensuring that all those who come to the University of Vermont Medical Center experience a positive encounter at the point of entry.  The Registration Representative will additionally be expected to achieve success in campus specific responsibilities.

Education:

Must possess high school diploma.  Associates degree or vocational training in a relevant area preferred.

Experience:

Requires one year of experience in customer service or work in a health care environment.  Prior experience with medical billing preferred.  Requires ability to diffuse angry customers and handle pressure with excellent verbal communication skills.   Demonstrated experience dealing effectively and compassionately with sensitive situations.
