Position Overview: This for a full-time retinal specialist in the Ophthalmology section under the Operative Care Line. Applicants should have expertise in comprehensive Ophthalmology, with subspecialty training in retina. The incumbent will deliver care to veterans in the scope of both general ophthalmology and retina. Expectations include maintenance of a high degree of excellence in clinical outcomes while providing efficient patient care throughput. Responsibilities involve participation in all aspects of the Eye Care Program, including clinical, administrative, and teaching components. Demonstrated interest in academic teaching is preferable. Candidates will teach ophthalmology residents on the VA rotation, who are based out of the University of Florida. The position offers excellent opportunities for rewarding interactions with an outstanding house staff, clinical support staff and faculty, as well as participation in the dynamic evolution of a progressive medical care system. Duties of this position include, but are not restricted to the following:
Ø Effective interaction with related services to improve outcomes and efficiencies.
Ø Collaborates on a frequent basis with Administration, Optometry, and other care lines to facilitate the operations within the Eye Care program to meet common goals.
Ø Fosters a high level of patient and staff satisfaction.
Ø Expectations include maintenance of a high degree of excellence in clinical outcomes while providing efficient patient care throughput.
Ø Participation in all aspects of the Eye Care Program, including clinical, administrative, and teaching components.
Ø Independently see ophthalmology patients in the clinic.
Ø Staff ophthalmology residents in the clinic, the minor surgical procedure room, and in the Operating Room.
Ø Perform laser treatments in the clinic.
Ø Perform retinal-vitreous surgery.
Ø Participate in call coverage of the VA.
The candidate must be American Board Certified or Board Eligible physician holding an active, unrestricted state medical license and be eligible for an adjunctive appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
