General Summary:

The Business Intelligence Analyst I works collaboratively with operational leaders, physicians, and quality & patient safety groups to create timely, actionable information used to improve and/or support outcomes.  The incumbent will have technical proficiency to use data analysis tools and techniques to access, summarize, and analyze large amounts of data from multiple sources.  In addition, will support the development of a data warehouse by serving as a technical resource for various source systems.  This unique position combines the skills of a technical expert with the acumen of a healthcare business subject matter expert. Must have a passion for data and the intellectual curiosity to independently make sense of complex information.

Job Functions:

  • Fulfill data acquisition requests for internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsible for creation of BI solutions, including designing, coding, and documenting
  • Translates complex business problems into Business Intelligence solutions
  • Assist in the development and refining of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Fulfillment of ad hoc and routine data requests and extracts
  • Develops reports to assist management teams in day-to-day operations
  • Serve as a key technical liaison in data governance tasks
  • Automates existing process to gain efficiencies
  • Provides insight into measure trends and discovers opportunities for improvement

 

Core Competencies/Skills:

  • Demonstrable expertise in T-SQL and stored procedures in a Microsoft environment
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server suite of products
  • Proven history of developing eye-catching, effective reports using tools such as Crystal Reports and Microsoft Access
  • Experience generating dashboards with data visualization products such as Tableau
  • Knowledge of general statistical methods for analyzing information and trends, R Statistics experience a plus
  • Ability to iteratively develop solutions quickly and effectively through collaboration with business leaders
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology, programs, metrics, and governing bodies
  • Must be a detail-oriented problem solver with an inquisitive nature
  • Ability to assist other team members including DBAs and technical leads in resolving problems and performing data analysis
  • General understanding of ETL processes
  • Ability to work with rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently to learn new terminology, tools, and datasets
  • Experience turning data into executive dashboards and reports
  • Passion for using data to drive business decisions
  • Expert ability to reverse engineer databases with limited documentation
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively at all levels of the organization

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical, engineering, computer science, or healthcare related discipline required
  • 2+ years related work experience required
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare environment highly preferred
