General Summary:

The Business Intelligence Analyst II will support the development and execution of strategies that improve business insight, analytics, and predictive modeling capabilities. Additionally, the incumbent will support the routine data and reporting needs of the organization. The analyst will work with system owners and administrators to understand and normalize data as it is imported into the data warehouse or other platforms. Must serve as a liaison with end users to identify data and reporting needs.

 

Job Functions:

  • Assist with the development of advanced analytics
  • Fulfill data acquisition requests for internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsible for creation of BI solutions, including designing, coding, and documenting
  • Translates complex business problems into Business Intelligence solutions
  • Assist in the development and refining of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Fulfillment of ad hoc and routine data requests and extracts
  • Develops reports to assist management teams in day-to-day operations
  • Serve as a key technical liaison in data governance tasks
  • Automates existing process to gain efficiencies
  • Provides insight into measure trends and discovers opportunities for improvement
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert in the area of government healthcare initiatives involving data (Value Based Purchasing, IPPS, Readmissions, HCAHPS, Hospital Compare, Core Measures, etc.)

 

Core Competencies/Skills:

  • Demonstrable expertise writing T-SQL and stored procedures in a Microsoft environment
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server suite of products
  • Advanced SQL knowledge including analytic functions
  • Proven history of developing eye-catching, effective reports using tools such as Crystal Reports and Microsoft Access
  • Experience generating dashboards with data visualization products such as Tableau
  • Ability to apply statistical analysis to determine relationships between various measures
  • In depth knowledge of healthcare terminology including clinical content and billing/coding processes
  • Knowledge of the current healthcare landscape including governmental initiatives
  • Must be a detail-oriented problem solver with an inquisitive nature
  • Ability to map data flows and processes in support of data warehouse expansion
  • Ability to work with rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently to learn new terminology, tools, and datasets
  • Experience turning data into executive dashboards and reports
  • Passion for using data to drive business decisions
  • Expert ability to reverse engineer databases with limited documentation
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Experience thinking "outside of the box" to rapidly develop solutions with limited customer specifications
