The Comcast Engineering and Technology Internship Program is a summer program based at various Comcast locations throughout the greater US. The program is designed to identify high-caliber talent to build our organization with the best and the brightest students who come from a variety of sourcing channels, including on-campus career fairs, partner organizations, and direct applications. As an intern in the program, you would expect to work a 40 hour/week schedule over the course of 11 weeks throughout the summer.
Additionally, you experience will include:
Engagement: Working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units at Comcast during your internship experience
Exposure: An inside look into the day-to-day operations of an organization at the cutting edge of media and technology.
Professional development: You will be exposed to a variety of professional development topics facilitated through our partners at Comcast University and senior leaders within the organization. These sessions are inclusive of speaker series, skill-building workshops, and networking opportunities.
Mentorship: Mentoring from fellow colleagues through the Empowering Future Leaders Program (EFLP) to help you navigate your experience, provide coaching, and expand your professional network.
Fun: Continuously develop relationships with fellow interns through social activities, community building, and networking.
Role Overview
Responsible for planning and designing new software and big data applications. Completes programming and implements, tests, and debugs defined software components.
Core Responsibilities:
Reviews, writes, and edits codes. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
Works to leverage Big Data Hadoop and Spark infrastructure to empower the organization.
Works with NoSQL stores to back mission critical initiatives with per formant data stores.
Drives to implementation and adoption of Real-time streams of data. (Ex: Kafka Producers)
Researches, writes, and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software design evaluation plans, test results, and technical manuals.
Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
Works with the Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
Applies full use and application of engineering methodologies related to area of engineering specialty.
Displays knowledge of engineering concepts and skills and knowledge of their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
Displays knowledge of, and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills, and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
Displays in-depth knowledge of, and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences.
Displays knowledge of, and ability to apply, project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications/Requirements:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree from a United States-based college or university
Major: Computer Science, or a related field
Minimum 3.0 GPA
Well versed in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Desire to enter the Media / Technology / Advertising industry upon graduation and passionate about innovation.
