Associate Merchandiser

Job Summary

 

• Source apparel, headwear and ad spec merchandise for assigned clients. Make sure the program meets target expectations for SKU’s, margins, and client satisfaction.

• Develop and maintain all speed sku product menus for client projects. Execute art and decoration requests. Confirm product pricing and complete PowerPoint presentations when requested by Team.

• Communicate with vendors regarding product and sample features, availability, and costs. Request and review virtual images as needed.

• Assist with set up and presentation of product for client reviews and item selections. Perform merchandising assistant duties as needed.



Key Job Responsibilities
• Influences the perception of SPP with product ideas that are distributed and shared with SPP Customers.
• Partners with Account Services Team to ensure that merchandise meets all timelines and expectations of customers. Attends strategy meetings, tradeshows, and related customer meetings to present merchandise assortment or provide direction.
• Assist in account review of program and forecasting of items.
• Encourages positive morale, teamwork and communication within the department and entire organization.
• Key contact for product vendors. Collaborates with vendors in order to obtain product and trend information that supports SPP goals.
• Ability to communicate with a high degree of professionalism with both internal and external audiences.
• Develops product ideas that represent SPPs expertise and creativity.


KPIs– Key Performance Indicators (i.e. how is success defined in this role?)
• Increase sales and present product ideas and trends from Staples Promotional Product’s preferred vendors that our Clients like.
• Execute product ideas on time, on brand and determines the effectiveness of them items in programs.

Education/Experience Equivalent (minimum requirements)
• Associate or Technical Degree, Merchandising background preferred.
• 2-4 Years relevant work experience in product marketing, merchandising or related field.



Professional Knowledge/Experience
1. Developed “business” communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external stakeholders and support functions.

2. Possess professional acumen.

3. Strong math skills and ability to understand pricing and cost build ups.

4. Multi task oriented with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and meet required deadlines.

5. Requires a self-motivated and energetic personality.

6. Solid PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

7. Teamwork and flexibility are essential.

Other Skills (e.g. specialized training, language proficiency, functional expertise etc.)
• Must have a passion for Retail shopping and merchandise
• Proficiency in MS Office, including PowerPoint and Excel
• Social media knowledge a plus
