Financial Analyst III

Purpose
 
Responsible for assisting in the preparation of various financial activities including data gathering, trending, modeling, forecasting, planning, and reporting to support Goods [& Services] Not For Resale (GNFR).  Collect information from various sources across the company and to assist in the building of models to provide insight to underlying business dynamics for GNFR sourcing events.  Contribute to the annual budgeting process, the periodic forecast process, and other initiatives as they arise.  Have the capabilities to own and contribute to processes and/or portions of processes in support of GNFR and company goals.
 
 
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
 
  • Prepares accurate and timely financial and business related analyses, research, and forecasts including financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, periodic forecasts, working capital and investments
  • Compiles and prepares accurate and timely reports, graphs and charts of data developed
  • Conceptualizes, develops and presents business cases to present to department financial and business leadership
  • Participates in special financial and business related studies as needed to support project objectives
  • Partners with other departments in the preparation of analyses and to identify improvement opportunities that can provide positive results to the bottom line
  • Contributes to critical GNFR processes
  • Contributes to the analysis of alternatives, recommendations and research from multiple sources
  • Applies moderate level of subject matter knowledge to solve a variety of business issues
  • Acts as an informed team member providing analysis of information and some project direction input
  • Exercises independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action
 
Finance Analyst I
  • Owns simple processes and/or portions of moderate processes with no visible drop off in performance to leadership
  • Responsible to guide the implementation of analytics on datasets in order to address business problems.
  • Responsible for validating the integrity of any data used.
  • Works under close supervision from experienced team members, generally works least complex financial analysis.
                                                   
Finance Analyst II
  • Owns moderate processes and/or portions of complex processes with no visible drop off in performance to leadership. 
  • Responsible to guide the implementation of analytics on datasets of moderate size and complexity in order to address business problems.
  • Responsible for validating the integrity of any data used.
  • Provides mentoring and training to other analysts on reports, systems and financial process flow
  • Acts as an internal consultant and interacts with appropriate level management
  • Provides insights into the performance of the business
  • Contributes to critical GNFR processes
 
Finance Analyst III
  • Conceptualizes, completes and presents analysis in support of management decisions, forecasts, and initiatives within the GNFR and business partner’s departments.
  • Collects information from various sources across the company, build models to provide insight to underlying business dynamics, create written presentations, and participate in executive reviews.
  • Responsible to guide the implementation of analytics on datasets of large size and moderate complexity in order to address business problems.
  • Responsible for validating the integrity of any data used.
  • Owns moderate processes and/or portions of complex processes with no visible drop off in performance to leadership. 
  • Assist in the supervision and/or mentor both Analyst I and Analyst II personnel.
  • Prepares and reviews accurate and timely financial and business related analyses, research, and forecasts.
  • Leads special financial and business related studies as needed to support project objectives
  • Provides mentoring and training to other analysts on modeling, reports, systems and financial process flow
  • Develops, interprets, analyzes and implements complex business strategies
  • Owns and/or plays leadership role in critical GNFR processes
  • Conducts analysis of alternatives, recommendations and research from multiple sources
  • Applies intermediate level of subject matter knowledge to solve a variety of business issues
  • Exercises independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action
                                                   
Finance Analyst Sr.
  • Uses vast experience to drive most strategic and complex financial analysis. Is subject matter expert in group and is utilized to train and develop other team members.
  • Prepares and reviews accurate and timely financial and business related analyses, research, and forecasts including financial and expense performance, depreciation, periodic forecasts and working capital
  • Collects information from various sources across the company, build models to provide insight to underlying business dynamics, create written presentations, and participate in executive reviews.
  • Responsible to guide the implementation of analytics on datasets of large size and high complexity in order to address business problems.
  • Responsible for validating the integrity of any data used.
  • Supports financial due diligence effort as it relates to GNFR activities.
  • Conceptualizes, develops and presents business cases to present to financial and business leadership
  • Leads special financial and business related studies as needed to support project objectives
  • Partners with other departments in the preparation of analyses and to identify improvement opportunities that can provide positive results to the bottom line
  • Provides mentoring and training to other analysts on reports, systems and financial process flow
  • Acts as an internal consultant and interacts with management at all levels
  • Provides insights into the performance of the business
  • Develops, interprets, analyzes and implements complex business strategies
  • Plays leadership role in critical GNFR processes
  • Conducts analysis of alternatives, recommendations and research from multiple sources
  • Develops and prepares various analytical and statistical reports in support of the business activities.
  • Completes a variety of financial evaluation research and analysis activities requiring the compilation of data and information from a variety of sources both internally and externally.
  • Presents results of research and analysis to management. Exercises independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action
 
Job Requirements
 
 
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Fortune 500 experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to be a team member and demonstrate skills to contribute to team dynamics
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others within a complex, fast paced organization required
  • Capability to work independently when needed
  • Excellent spreadsheet and database application skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information
  • Statistical modeling skills a plus
 
Finance Analyst I
  • Must have some prior experience in financial analysis.
                                                   
Finance Analyst II
  • All of the above
  • Must have 2 years prior experience in financial analysis.
  • MBA or CPA(or in process of completing either) preferred
  • Financial analysis experience required
  • Retail experience preferred
 
Finance Analyst III
  • All of the above
  • Must have at least 4 years prior experience in financial analysis.
  • Leadership (either supervisory or mentoring) experience preferred
  • Have significant knowledge of and experience in providing economic, market, consumer and business research and analysis for retail industries.
 
Finance Analyst Sr.
  • All of the above
  • Must have at least 5 years prior experience in financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated success in multiple, difficult, and complex financial analysis.
  • Solid financial analysis skills including DCF, IRR, ROIC, and EPS accretion/dilution analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in providing economic, market, consumer and business research and analysis for retail industries.
  • Extensive knowledge of and familiarity with income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills to work effectively with associates at all levels of the company and in the business community.
  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
  • Possess excellent research and analysis skills.
  • Experience in creating management presentations.
 
 
 
Physical Environment
  • Some travel may be required
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
