Performs a variety of duties in connection with receiving, marking and stocking merchandise in the self-service "back up" storage area of a main Exchange. Duties and Responsibilities:
Receives and unloads incoming merchandise deliveries. Counts and verifies items against appropriate documentation. -
Reviews floor inventory levels to insure an adequate stock of merchandise. Uses judgment based on knowledge of appropriate stock levels to restock merchandise on shelves. -
Stocks merchandise according to size and assortment. Employs effective visual merchandising techniques. Rotates older stock to the front using the age codes as a guide. Advises and makes recommendations to supervisor and/or appropriate buyer for markdowns on slow-moving and/or damaged merchandise. Ensures that misplaced merchandise is returned to the proper area. -
Maintains Unit Reorder Records as instructed by supervisor. Performs physical inventory of merchandise on the floor and in the back storeroom to determine merchandise to reorder to maintain maximum stock level. Prepares Merchandise Transfers as necessary. -
Price marks merchandise. Reviews Retail Price Changes as provided by procurement personnel or receives instruction from supervisor of any markdowns to determine the price of merchandise. On markdowns, calculates new prices based on the percentage of markdown as established by the supervisor or other appropriate authority. -
Performs periodic inventories as required. Assists supervisor in the preparation for inventories. -
May assist sales personnel in bagging customers purchases. Assists customers in locating merchandise. If merchandise is not on floor display then reviews stock in backroom if merchandise is available. In not-in-stock situations, advises customer on approximate date of availability. -
Performs basic housekeeping duties to maintain selling and stock areas clean and orderly. -
Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Carries out assigned duties in accordance with established procedures. Work is reviewed in terms of efficiency of operations and adherence to procedures. -
Performs other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
: Walks, stoops, bends and stands for a long period of time in pricing and restocking merchandise. May lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds. Uses push cart to transport merchandise from storage area to the selling floor. Climbs ladders to pull stock from storage shelves and bins. Uses sharp instrument to break open boxes. WORKING CONDITIONS: Most of work is performed in selling area which is well lighted. In working at the storage area, may be exposed to hot or cold temperatures. May be exposed to minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes and bruises
