The Supply Chain Department has an opening for a Director, Transportation. This position is located in Boise, Idaho.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Assist Regional VP and DC transportation managers on quarterly budgeting processes for best Distribution Cost Allocation (DCA) cost to retail.
•Execute Logistics’ strategic and tactical plan for improving key transportation and truck maintenance KPI.
•Assist DC operations on identifying and or procuring needed resources “Carriers, Drivers, Equipment” as to ensure consistent on-time service levels to retail stores.
•Implement effective mentoring and developmental processes in conjunction with DC general manager to improve bench strength and prepare individuals for the next level of leadership.
•Coordinate the implementation of industry best practices across divisional transportation and truck repair operations and systems.
•Ensure divisional compliance with all Federal and State Department of Transportation requirements.
•Analyze and recommend optimal fleet size, specifications and lifecycle strategies to minimize overall equipment lifecycle costs for each division.
•Develop strategy and negotiate cost effective contracts with major transportation equipment suppliers for trucking capital expenditures, allowances and rebates.
•Help facilitate annual CAP-X request, 3 and 5 year vision by unit, execute annual capital expenditures through timely, effective management of the trucking equipment procurement process including coordination of equipment build schedules and delivery dates with manufacturers and divisions.
•Negotiate and manage national repair parts purchasing programs for all divisions.
•Liaison between divisions and manufacturers regarding warranty issues and policies.
•Leverage technology and assist in managing optimal utilization of transportation management systems including TMS, preventative maintenance, and on-board computer platforms.
•Implement industry best practice repair and preventive maintenance programs to minimize total cost of ownership while maximizing asset life.
•Assist in training and utilization of lean six sigma processes and best practices to maximize efficiency, reduce cost and increase supply chain value in transportation and truck maintenance operations.


Qualifications:
•Experience in managing a large private fleet operation with responsibility for fleet maintenance.
•Exceptional leadership, interpersonal and people skills with the ability to create and foster a successful “team” environment that will facilitate problem solving by listening to and building consensus among divisional transportation/truck repair staff.
•Motivated to provide a high level of customer focus and superior service to both division transportation/truck repair customers as well as external vendors.
•Proven analytical, financial, problem solving and negotiation skills.
•Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and adjust priorities on demand.
•Ability to empower the workforce and build strong teams through hiring, developing, evaluating, training, coaching and succession planning.
•Proven ability to define performance measures directly related to business and hold teams and individuals accountable for performance results.
•Excellent customer service focus, results oriented.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Demonstrated experience in administering and implementing transportation routing and dispatch systems; fleet maintenance management software and truck on-board computer systems. Specific experience in working with Manugistics Routing & Scheduling; CAMS Prospero Fleet Management; Omnitracs or XATA truck on-board computers and TMT Fleet Maintenance software is a plus.
•Strong computer skills including Excel, MS Word, and MS Access.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: > 50% travel

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
•Work typically performed in a temperature-controlled environment. However, may occasionally work in a Distribution Center environment
•Sits, stands or walks for extended periods of time.
•Bending, stooping and twisting required periodically.
•Spends long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
•Uses calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
•Workday is fast paced, some evening and weekend work may be required.
