Individuals will be supporting the aerodynamic development of Ford NASCAR racing efforts under the Ford Performance umbrella. Individuals will work directly with race teams, using CFD to develop maximum aerodynamic performance while correlating CFD to wind tunnel data and on-track performance. Other job responsibilities include:
CFD ANALYSIS: Build analytical models and perform analytical simulations to determine aerodynamic drag and lift performance of concepts and develop actions and concepts to achieve targets and improve overall performance. Work directly with race teams to develop and evaluate new concepts.
METHODOLOGY: Develop and implement new CFD methodologies and tools. Where applicable, leverage Ford technical resources and new technology to improve racing performance. Assist in developing aerodynamic tools for track and simulator.
WIND TUNNEL TESTING: When necessary at team’s direction, assist with conducting full scale and model physical tests to determine aerodynamic drag and lift performance of race vehicles and develop actions to improve performance and correlation to CFD
EXCHANGE OF TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: Transfer skills, knowledge, and methodologies developed in fast-paced Motorsports Engineering environment to mainstream Product Development and vice versa.
Ability to occasionally work flexible hours due to manufacturing or development deadlines, and race and wind tunnel schedules.
