Position Summary:

Position Overview:
We are seeking engineers skilled in Vehicle Integration – experienced in setting targets and resolving any incompatibilities within these targets as the program progresses towards launch.  This role is required for each of our vehicle programs and has growth potential for a highly motivated candidate.
There is very little travel required in this role, which will be based in our Dearborn, MI Product Development offices.
Responsibilities:
 

  • Engineering position with growth potential for high-achieving, highly motivated individual.  A career opportunity in the area of Vehicle Architecture Engineering is now available for showcasing your knowledge, skills and leadership during the critical early design phase of our new car and truck programs.  The Vehicle Architecture team is developing the next generation of Ford and Lincoln vehicles!
  • Establish vehicle attribute targets (Weight, Fuel Economy, Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Climate Control, Occupant Package, etc.) based on competitive benchmarking, internal requirements, quality objectives, and third party (Consumer Reports, JD Power, Media) ratings.
  • Apply systems design methods and tools (requirements analysis, benchmarking, modeling, futuring, etc.) to translate customer / marketing information into vehicle attribute targets and associated hardware decisions
  • Work cross-functionally with Design and Release Engineering, Vehicle Attribute Engineering, Studio/Design, etc., to resolve cross-attribute compatibility issues by developing innovative engineering solutions
  • Interface with Product Planning and Program Management teams to ensure solutions are compatible with overall program cost and quality objectives

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications: 
 
  • BS in Engineering
  • 3+ years in one of the following automotive functional attributes: (Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Aero, Thermal, Occupant Package, Performance, Fuel Economy, Weight) engineering and integration
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • MS in Engineering
  • Knowledge of all phases of Product Development
  • Overall vehicle, attribute, and functional hardware knowledge
  • Test Track and/or Drive Evaluation experience
  • Manufacturing and assembly plant experience
  • Candidate should be able to demonstrate key leadership behaviors : build strong relationships; be a team player; communicate clearly, concisely, and candidly; demonstrate initiative, empowerment, courage, tenacity, and integrity; set high expectations; hold yourself responsible and accountable for delivering results
