Position Summary:

OVERVIEW
Repairs, protects and beautifies various interior and exterior surfaces in the main and other supporting buildings by providing painting and minor Carpentry work.
 
SUMMARY
The job requires skill reflecting knowledge of several technical fields, which include a thorough understanding of the techniques and principles and an ability to modify or adapt them as needed. Specific technical skills required include:

  • Painting – interiors and exteriors
  • Hanging wall coverings
  • Hanging and finishing drywall and plaster
  • Estimating projects and ordering materials
  • Depending on location, additional technical skills (e.g., tile installation, furniture finishing, framing)
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Inspects various damaged surfaces (e.g., plaster, drywall, water-damaged areas, ceiling and wall cracks) for remodeling.
  • Removes furniture, equipment, shelving, fixtures, etc. from work area. Installs and/or repairs drywall and plaster. Applies corner beads, tapes, patches, sands, strips, washes and primes surfaces, returns areas to working order when project is completed.
  • Uses various wall covering techniques and remedies to complete project.
  • Completes other various duties related to Painting, Carpentry, Flooring, Cabinetry, and related tasks, under the direction of the supervisor and/or his/her designee.
  • Uses tools and equipment appropriately while contributing to a safe working environment.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experienced painter/paperhanger
  • Maintenance experience
  • Carpentry experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in multiple areas, such as painting and carpentry
  • Shop experience and hospital experience, preferred
 
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
  • Must have valid driver’s license
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • General computer skills required
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management system preferred
  • Autonomous Decision Making and Interpersonal Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be required in order to communicate with vendors, guests, staff, management, co-workers and all other persons associated directly or indirectly with PFG. Physical Demands and
 
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • The work as it is typically performed consists of considerable strenuous physical exertion such that specific physical abilities are needed to perform the job
  • This job may require working indoors and outdoors in a range of temperatures that may vary from hot to cold. Bending, lifting, twisting and standing for long hours may be required.
  • The typical work environment involves potentially high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations that require adherence to prescribed safety policies, procedures and precautions.
 
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
  • The job requires regular operation of standard office equipment (phone, pager) and hand tools.
  • The job may require operation of a pickup truck.
  • In addition the job requires operating tools or equipment with a skill level that is typically acquired through trade or vocational school training. Examples include: Saws, drills, sanders, grinders, knives and drywall tools; Ladders and poles; brushes, rollers and spray equipment; paint shaker; road striper
