Overview: 

As a Business Manager, you will drive sales/profitability by leading a team and creating a best in class customer experience.  Key focuses include Store event creation/execution, people development, and supporting operational standards in partnership with the Cosmetics Sales Manager.  The Business Manager is responsible for incremental and continued sales growth, merchandise presentation, and a clean, neat, organized shopping environment for our customers.  


 

Essential Job Functions:

 

Coach and Develop Team
• Recruit and hire a service oriented team with the desire to continuously learn.  Prioritize the retention of talent.
• Foster a culture of best in class customer experiences through your team with consistent coaching, fast feedback, and the creation of development plans.
• Keep team motivated by demonstrating model service behaviors.  Emphasize prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional behaviors to elevate the customer experience and drive success.
• Monitor performance of all associates and take action quickly when selling and service behavioral expectations are not maintained
• Promote strong team engagement and encourage recognition from leaders as well as peers.
• Coordinate education and training touch-points for new and existing team members partnering with the Vendor Education Executive.
• Coach team to drive company initiatives to drive sales: Magic(service), Omnichannel(multiple shopping channels), MyMacy’s(localization).
 
Team Sales Performance
• Provide ongoing reinforce of product expertise and lead a beauty team to achieve individual and company objectives.
• Conduct team meetings to review overall business and company strategies.  Touch-base with team members daily for timely recognition and acknowledgment of successes, education, and training.
• Communicate and monitor team’s performance and educate on how to improve individual and total team performance.
• Establish and grow base clientele through event strategies and utilization of My Client company initiative.
• Ensure that key promotions and events have appropriate hours and staffing levels; partner with Sales Manager and District Staffing Manager to request temporary staffing positions as needed.
• Maintain target hours utilization at all times in partnership with Sales Manager.
• Ensure operational process/procedures are in place to drive business.
• Be perceived as a leader.  Maintain objective and professional relationships with brand partners, Macy’s district partners, and peers.
 
Store Events/Execute Marketing Calendar
• Create and execute action plans based on the marketing calendar to achieve sales plan.
• Analyze counter and competitive sales to provide appropriate feedback, build community partnership and increase customer traffic.
• Establish and manage total counter and individual associate goals for sales and pre-sell events.
• Collaborates with Sales Manager to review and address staffing needs to achieve goals and strategies.
• Partner with Sales Manager to brainstorm, strategize and develop event concepts, collateral, and support materials.
• Manage all aspects of events, including event strategy and objectives, new event ideas, planning, execution, and event recaps.
• Expected to drive quarterly mega events; mini and trend events to be executed on a regular basis.
• Work collaboratively with cross functional departments such as Visual, Operations, and Store and Vendor Partners to discuss and review project lists to ensure requirements are met.
Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Able to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios. Must be able to make change in American monetary units.
Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision. Must be able to anticipate and solve problems.
This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, and standing. Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours. Involves lifting at least 30lbs. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders.  Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. Ability to anticipate and solve problems, act decisively and persist in the face of obstacles. Strong leadership profile and excellent negotiation skills. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to empower and develop team, collaborate, and function as a member of a team, ability to execute plans and strategies. Commitment to exemplifying the highest integrity and professional business standards.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and sales events, based on department and store/company needs.
