Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and supervision for the CMS (Chemical Management Services) Program. The incumbent’s position will support/guide program launch, oversee implementation, and support the program over the life of the contract. The incumbent will be the primary contact for customer inquiries related to the overall issues associated with the chemical management program.
The incumbent will be responsible for supporting implementation of the CMS Hazardous Material Management software and Consignment Software Packages. They will be a liaison between internal and external IT resources to achieve strong chemical management reporting processes that extracts data for use in PPG software packages to enable inventory visibility and control. The incumbents’ understanding of the IT interface and similar programs will be critical to the success of the CMS program.
He/she must have flexibility to work independently without step-by-step direction while maintaining a strong team environment. He/she must have proven ability to measure, analyze, improve, and control key process characteristics that most strongly influence customer satisfaction. The incumbent must be an excellent communicator and leader of internal cross-functional teams and suppliers. The incumbent will assist in the training of customer team personnel during the roll out and implementation phases. He/she will develop a network of key support functions within the ASC and within the customer’s facility.
Principle Accountabilities
Support the implementation of chemical management program at the customer. Execute all defined contract obligations over life of program.
Support the identification and prioritization of annual cost savings projects to meet PPG profitability objectives and customer cost savings.
Identify resources, develop, and maintain Project Management timing charts that outline all activities to be accomplished within yearly time frames.
Assist in training of new coordinators and material handlers that are an integral part of the Chemical management program.
Manage coordinators, stockers, labelers, that are supporting customers.
Support PPG chemical management program when supplier issues/problems arise and implement resolutions.
Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or a business related discipline and/or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience desired. Must pass PPG’s Supervisory Assessment. A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the following areas is beneficial: business process analysis & improvement, lean & six sigma, quality assurance, strategic sourcing, team facilitation, materials management, enterprise resource planning (ex. SAP), and cost reduction
Functional and Technical Skills
A high degree of professionalism, excellent communication and presentation skills are required. Must have the ability to work with minimal direction. Must be able to work with Sales, Marketing, and Business Managers. Computer literacy in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project is desired. The ability to evaluate the industrial work environment is also a necessary skill. He/she must be able to always convey a professional image both to internal PPG as well as with the customers and suppliers. Must be able to travel up to 20%.
