Group Leader is accountable for leading the development of intermix color formulation at the Richmond Color Lab. 
Reporting to the Color Formulation Manager, the Group Leader is responsible for various color projects that are being processed by the Color Formulation Group and the incumbent. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
• Manage the timely development of new and/or improved products and technology in support of business goals and objectives. 
• Coordinate project activity with all pertinent functions within SW.
• Responsible for management of the technical staff, which may include interviewing, hiring, development, training and termination of personnel.
• Support formula development- color matching, approval of color matches, color match training and coaching. 
• Direct daily activities of lab personnel.
• Meet or exceed the stated requirement on turnaround time for projects.
• Resolve internal and external technical problems in a timely manner.
• Maintain safe operating procedures through complete knowledge of safety rules and lab procedures.
• Maintain inventory, equipment, lab panels, and supplies is essential to efficient operation of the lab. 
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with those in the field.
• Adhere to company safety standards at all times
• Additional duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. FORMAL EDUCATION
a. Required:
•  Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related field
b. Preferred:
•  Degree in Polymers and Coatings


2. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
a. Required:
• 3-5 years of experience in color development and color matching. 
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Color computer program literacy.
• Fundamental managerial skills.

3. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
• Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
• Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 100 degrees and cold to 20 degrees.
• May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
• May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
• May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
• Work surfaces may include concrete.
• Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.
• Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
• Must be able to, with or without reasonable accommodation, work required overtime as needed.
• Must be able to, with or without reasonable accommodation, to distinguish the difference between colors.
• Some travel (10%) to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.

4. TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
a. Required:
• Organizational skills
• Able to adapt and change quickly in response to new situations/demands
• Problem solving skills
• Ability to tailor communications to fit the needs of the audience
• Valid Driver’s license.
b. Preferred:
• DFSS


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be willing to travel
• Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point and/or Access)
• Must have a four year Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
• Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodations, to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and wear a respirator as required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment visa status.
