Job Summary: Greets, checks identification, and assists customers. Furnishes information, inspects packages and passes out sales and special events flyers. Duties and Responsibilities: Carries out policy of courtesy and service. Recognizing the importance of genuine, obvious and active attention to patrons in a retailing and services organization and exercises tact, good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting customers and fellow associates. Focusing on the customer or fellow associate, responds to inquiries and provides assistance in a prompt and friendly manner. Understands that the customer comes first and actively seeks to become knowledgeable concerning store policies, merchandise sold and services offered. - Greets customers as they enter the store, offering sales-oriented assistance. Directs customers to selling areas and furnishes information regarding the location of merchandise, cashier's cage, manager's office and customer service area. - Assists customers requesting specific information on special programs, i.e., Satisfaction Guaranteed, Rain Checks, Refund Policy, Layaway Policy, Deferred Payment Plan, etc. - Verifies the identification of all persons in civilian attire, entering the Exchange facilities and denies admittance to unauthorized individuals. - Ensures customers receive current sales promotion flyers of merchandise on sale or special events. Maintains surveillance over the store exit and entrance areas for the purpose of preventing shoplifting or other unauthorized activities. Inspects the contents of packages, boxes and other containers being removed from facilities; checks against sales receipts to ensure only paid-for items are being removed. Assists, as required, in the apprehension of shoplifters and other malfactors. - May assist in closing the store by checking windows, doors, locks and turning off lights and other electrical equipment. May inspect premises for fire hazards. - Assures that all facility rules are being observed. - Performs other related duties as assigned

EVALUATION OF CANDIDATES ID Checkers are expected to possess alertness, tact, integrity and the ability to learn rules, regulations, pertinent laws, general and special orders and administrative procedures relating to security programs. Person-to-person contacts form an important and significant part of the total work of the identification checker. Ability to communicate effectively is important to continued success.
