Network Test Engineer (Government)

AT&T - COLUMBIA, Maryland

Provide overall leadership of the network T&E task and serve as primary liaison to the government for supporting contract coordination and task execution; Manage network T&E resources and tasks; ensure quality assurance of test processes and products; Coordinate and integrate Evaluation and Testing tasks and products; Participate in T&E WIPT and/or Integrated Test Team as needed to ensure proper coordination of T&E activities; Communicate issues and solutions to the broader government and contract management structure as requested by Leadership; Drive innovation and responsiveness to program changes and evolving T&E status to help manage program risk: develop alternative courses of action, work-arounds, and fall-back positions with a recommended course of action for each risk, and monitor and re-evaluate risks at appropriate milestones; Ensure the appropriate level of independence of the team from the solution provider to support government management of objectivity risk.

Responsibilities include:
  • Designing, planning, testing, and implementing LANs and WANs using latest technology.
  • Actively monitor and manage the network and optimize system performance.
  • Applying operating system updates, patches and configuration changes
  • Implement network security measures.
  • Providing and managing system documentation for all related network systems.
  • Supporting and configuring all routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Managing the testing and implementation of upgrades and changes to the network systems.
  • Designing and planning network systems.
  • Providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Providing specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Conducting testing of network systems.
  • Maintaining technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Evaluating and reporting on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network
Eight (8) years’ experience as a TE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Statistics, Engineering Management or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional TE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. Knowledge and experience with the following protocols/technologies: TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, Spanning Tree, Reverse Proxy. Experience with (including the ability to setup, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot) Cisco and Juniper routers, switches (Nexus and Catalyst), ASA's, and Blue Coat devices. Experience working and managing networks supporting government systems in an unclassified and classified environment.

Required Clearance: Candidate must have a TS/SCI polygraph clearance
