ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain is the television home of the Colorado Rockies, Utah Jazz, Mountain West, and the Big Sky Conference. The network reaches approximately 2.5 million households across nine states and delivers more than 350 live events each year – all of which are available in high definition. ROOT SPORTS Southwest is the television home of the Houston Astros, Houston Rockets. The network reaches approximately 4.2 million households across five states and delivers more than 250 live events each year- all of which are available in high definition. ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain and ROOT SPORTS Southwest are owned and operated by AT&T Sports Networks, which operates regional sports networks in the Northwest and Pittsburgh as well as the Rocky Mountain and Southwest regions. The four networks combined reach approximately 13 million households across 22 states and own exclusive rights to produce and distribute live events from more than 25 teams and conferences.
 
The Marketing Manager can be located in either Denver, CO or Houston, TX and will report to the Senior Marketing Manager in Pittsburgh, PA.
 
The Marketing Manager’s primary responsibilities to include:
  • Ensure that all team partner contractual marketing assets and elements are executed in RM and SW including Rockies, Jazz, Rockets and Astros along with college football properties
    • Verify all team partner marketing elements/assets prior to start of each season with team partner
    • Obtain all deadlines and specs for all team partner elements/assets from team partner
    • Schedule the creation of all team partner elements/assets in Basecamp with ROOT Sports creative service
    • Manage flow of proofing/approvals of all team partner elements/assets from Creative Services, ensuring all proper groups review, approve and respond inside set timelines
  • Develop and execute affiliate marketing campaigns for RM and SW
    • Negotiate and place media
    • Request, review and approve creative assets
    • Prepare weekly reporting on website traffic and actions taken by fans
  • Manage any regional events, contests and promotions for RM and SW
    • Coordinate the production and logistics of elements needed for in-market events (premiums, signage, reservations, scheduling staff, etc.)
      • Assist with marketing and promotional support for two (2) annual charity game broadcasts for SW and potential for RM
  • Execute barter media deals for RM and SW, if any
  • Work with region’s Traffic Department and Creative Services to ensure that on-channel promotional spots are scheduled for RM and SW
  • Work with region’s Ad Sales department, Production, Creative Services and any other relevant group  to support client-sponsored social media or other client-sponsored elements
  • Execute all  social media activity according to company strategy  
  • Work with region’s Programming Department to ensure affiliate related question from social media are being addressed Work with website manager to ensure that regions website information is accurate and up to date for RM and SW
 
Minimum qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, sports management or similar; or equivalent work experience
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience in marketing, public relations, promotions or similar
  • Prior work experience with a sports team and/or television station strongly preferred
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Passionate knowledge of regional sports teams 
  • A professional demeanor highlighted in all communications, including written and verbal
  • Strong business acumen, along with excellent project management, communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work with all levels of individuals, both internally and externally, with professionalism and tact
  • Outstanding organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a team oriented environment
  • Exhibit high energy and willingness to pitch in and help the larger team accomplish goals/work assignments
  • Follow through on action items and keep the team informed of your progress
  • Be proactive in proposing work assignments that will enhance the performance of the organization
  • Experience with social media marketing disciplines
  • Be resourceful and feel comfortable reaching out to other departments to complete assignments
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft word, excel, power point. 
  • Basic understanding of photo shop preferred.
  • Ability to work additional and unconventional hours in support of the department and partners as necessary
