Position Description
The Systems Analyst II / I will be working as part of the IT Digital Center of Excellence Microsoft Development Group located in Pittsburgh, PA. The position will require minimum travel. Sporadic weekend and off-hour support is required.
A Systems Analyst must provide analytical and technical expertise within the team regarding the analysis, design, development and implementation of business applications. In this capacity, they must maintain awareness of current IT projects within PPG and planned projects in their own IT group in order to promote application sharing.
The Systems Analyst is expected to collaborate with company customers, staff members, IT colleagues, and other stakeholders to define detailed customer requirements and system interfaces, assess available technologies, and develop and present viable solution options. The successful candidate will be expected to evaluate application software packages, as well as other alternatives and make recommendations to management. Additionally, the Systems Analyst may be responsible for mentoring less experienced developers and acting as a technical lead on projects.
Technical
The Systems Analyst (SharePoint Developer) should have knowledge that includes SharePoint architectural design, Web Part development, server installation, troubleshooting, deploying and supporting enterprise SharePoint implementations. The Systems Analyst is responsible for using significant knowledge of SharePoint capabilities to develop and guide enterprise solutions, lead and coordinate projects from an enterprise content management perspective and ensure that the solution meets business needs. The Systems Analyst should make informed recommendations pertaining to SharePoint architecture as well as design and guide customers on the technical direction of the SharePoint platform.
The Systems Analyst must be proficient in translating business requirements into software, written communications and equipment requirements for application development. This includes performing feasibility studies, translating requirements into an appropriate design, and executing development activities. Analysts must have the ability to identify barriers to meeting goals, and provide solutions to keep projects on track and on budget. Analysts also assure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices. Analysts must be proficient in leading projects from a technical perspective. They must be able to work with both PPG employees and contract programmers while working on multiple projects.
Individuals in this job position are competent working at an in-depth technical level while possessing a broad knowledge of various technical areas. They must be able to propose innovative technical solutions and provide and recommend data security solutions when required. They must be able to prepare detailed specifications from which applications will be written. Often they create, modify, and test programming code themselves or provide technical consulting support on projects or system issues. Analysts should understand the procedures and expected system performance associated with applicable technologies. From an application maintenance perspective, Analysts must respond appropriately to system maintenance requests and use their analytical abilities and technical skills to isolate problems, fix immediate needs, analyze all ramifications and implement solutions. Systems Analysts are also responsible for overseeing the creation of source code, operations, and user documentation. They are required to fully support department processes and procedures concerning methodology and internal auditing procedures.
Interpersonal
The Systems Analyst generally does not directly supervise others, but must have demonstrated that they work well within a project team and can provide direction to other team members. To be a Systems Analyst means that you have demonstrated that you have good collaboration skills. Analysts will directly influence application design and project priorities. Analysts possess good coaching skills and occasionally coach other team members. Analysts foster and maintain good relationships with customers and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels. They share responsibility with other team members to ensure on-time product delivery, which requires a clear understanding of expectations and capabilities as well as the ability to act effectively as a team member.
