Key Responsibilities
 

The IT Category Sourcing Agent is primarily responsible for sourcing projects and professional services based on the category strategy and on-demand projects with various business unit stakeholders across the organization.  Sourcing projects will follow a defined strategic sourcing process and require strong project management and sourcing expertise.  Category strategies include stakeholder communication, spend analytics/mapping, external market analysis, strategic sourcing strategy development and execution (RFx, focused negotiations, etc.), contract/service level agreements, and vendor management.  The incumbent will be delegated purchasing authority up to a certain dollar amount, referring all transactions in excess to the appropriate level of authority and complying with all Corporate Purchasing policies and procedures.

  • Work closely with the US/Canadian Purchasing Manager, Business Services & Travel and team members to execute the global sourcing strategies for IT hardware, software, telecom, & professional services.
  • Facilitate close communication with senior IT and business management to understand business needs, evaluate vendors, and set sourcing strategies
  • Directly negotiates cost effective purchase agreements using Ariba tools to drive cost savings
  • Generate strategic options for continuous improvement and competitive advantage
  • Ensure sourcing function is carried out in an ethical and professional manner
  • Write and redline a wide variety of agreements such as Software License Agreements and Master Services Agreements
  • Work closely with PPG Legal to evaluate and negotiate agreement terms and conditions
  • Evaluate IT suppliers and services to develop sourcing strategies and suppliers that provide optimum value to the corporation based on established specifications and quality standards
  • Generate strategic options for continuous improvement and competitive advantage
  • Develop a broad knowledge and provide expertise to evaluate leading-edge technologies and interpret market conditions 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Utilize the strategic sourcing process to effectively manage various IT categories
  • Deliver savings of $1.0 MM to $1.5 MM and a 3-day working capital improvement from improved sourcing arrangements
  • Drive supplier performance through supplier savings proposals and service level agreements
  • Develop monthly communication reviews with IT management reviewing critical suppliers, upcoming change projects and an understanding of the forward business needs.

Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (Business, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management)
  • Direct work experience in the field of IT Strategic Sourcing (a minimum of five years is  preferred).
Functional and Technical Skills
 
This position requires the successful candidate to possess a strong working knowledge of purchasing and exceptional work prioritization skills in order to effectively manage a high volume of sourcing activity.  In addition the following is necessary:
  • Information technology background or relevant experience is critical to success in this role
  • Knowledgeable in applying a strategic sourcing process
  • Experience in tracking/tackling IT category spend
  • Proficiency with establishing contracts, monitoring performance and resolving issues
  • Ability to influence and manage conflicts throughout the organization
  • Structured in initiating and leading change through cross-functional teams
  • Business acumen to manage commercial relationships and negotiations
  • Ability to analyze data and to apply strategic frameworks
  • Strong purchasing and project leadership skills to effectively drive maximum value from all purchasing activity under incumbent’s responsibility
  • Ability to use relevant tools to create RFPs and manage vendor responses and bids
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of vendors, customers, or employees of the organization
  • Able to act with local autonomy.
  • Comfortable with challenge and saying ‘no’
  • Proactive, hands-on and results-orientated. Embraces getting the job done.
  • Willing to travel 10% of the time.
