Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the ACT process for R&D across Allison Park (CIC), Harmarville (GBDC) and Monroeville (MCC) sites.  Maintain accurate fixed asset records.  Provide general accounting, daily transaction and monthly closing support for the CIC location.  Ensure that all system changes related to personnel changes are accurate and up-to-date.  Develop annual profit plan for capital spending and balance sheet accounts for R&D sites.  Complete annual R&D cost reports required by various entities.
 
Capital Spending/Fixed Assets
  • Coordinate the ACT process for R&D sites.
  • Provide guidance on procedures and requirements to ACT sponsors and prepare ACT’s that are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure accurate cost tracking by working with Chillicothe Fixed Asset team to create appropriate accounts and working with ACT sponsors to ensure correct use of accounts.  Follow-up on ACT status on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare annual capital spending plan.
  • Provide monthly reports for R&D management and to SBU’s (as needed).
  • Coordinate annual fixed asset inventory.  Prepare disposition ACT’s and update property descriptions as necessary.
 
General Accounting (CIC)
  • Track significant prepaid expenses and accrued payables to ensure appropriate accounting.
  • Track miscellaneous accounts receivables and follow-up to ensure timely payment.
  • Prepare billings for analytical and panel testing services to other PPG locations:  parent company and intercompany.  Coordinate with Tax and other PPG legal entities to develop service agreements as needed.
  • Resolve intercompany out-of-balance conditions.
 
Daily Support/Monthly Closing (CIC)
  • Personnel changes:  Provide HR with account codes and ensure that all supporting systems are updated:  VISA CPC, Concur, Oracle, Ariba eBuy, LIMS Analytical, and others.  Ensure approval limits and flows are accurate in all systems.
  • Provide daily support for questions from CIC personnel.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries including prepaid amortizations, accruals for significant expenses, intercompany transfers.
  • Process inbound clearinghouse invoices and review suspense accounts.
 
Profit Plan
  • Prepare annual capital spending budgets and depreciation calculations.
  • Prepare annual balance sheet budgets for fixed asset, prepaid, accounts receivable and other accounts.
 
Annual Reporting
  • Prepare PPG financial and tax schedules for R&D sites.
  • Complete Investment Tax Credit report for Tax department.
  • Complete BRDIS report of global data for U.S. Census Bureau.
 
Experience and Education
A B.S. or B.A. degree in Accounting/Finance, or related field, and/or relevant experience is required. 
 
Functional and Technical Skills
This position requires an understanding of general accounting fundamentals and an ability to resolve reconciliation discrepancies.  Excellent communication skills and an ability to summarize detailed information in a succinct manner are needed.  Demonstrated skill set with Microsoft Office tools is recommended.
