Sr. Manager – Inventory Control

Position Summary:
The Senior Manager Inventory Accounting and Control be responsible for all accounting, control, financial reporting and analytics of inventory, obsolescence, damages, shrink and the physical count of inventory for the US Retail and Delivery business units.  

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for overseeing the accounting, reporting, forecasting, modeling and analysis of Inventory, shrink, obsolescence and damages for US Retail and Delivery business units.  
  • Responsible for month-end close including the completion and analysis of 200 balance sheet accounts, as well as, calculating and reporting the adequacy of balances.  
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining proper controls around the accuracy of inventory including the physical count of inventory for stores, Retail DC’s and Delivery FC’s. 
  • Responsible for reporting, budgeting and forecasting Inventory, Shrink, Obsolescence, Damage Reserves and Expenses, as well as, communicating expense or reserve fluctuations.
  • Provide insights to the business on areas of opportunities to reduce inventory related expenses such as shrink, obsolescence and damages. Evolve relevant metrics as business changes.
  • Partnership and collaborate with business to communicate and mitigate current and future inventory risk and ensure inventory is accurately stated.  This includes monthly meetings with merchants and inventory planning to determine actions needed.
  • Provide continued improvement to current reporting and models in support of calculating required inventory reserves. Incorporate best practices in judgment of those calculations.
  • Assist and direct the team in maintaining and developing new value added analyses and financial models involving inventory controls.
  • Maintain tests, controls and reporting as required by our external auditors and SOX.
  • Lead and manage a team of 3 direct and 9 indirect accounting/finance professionals, including selection/hiring, objective setting, performance management, coaching, development and training.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in either Accounting, Finance or related discipline 
  • 10 years financial analysis and/or accounting experience
  • Experience in systems analysis and data tie out
  • Experience leading successful financial and compliance audits
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop others, to exercise insightful judgment, drive execution, and think creatively.
  • Ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-functional team. 
  • Executive presence in leading meetings requiring influence and action
  • Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements and leverage best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to shift priorities and manage changing demands with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent communication skills including strong written and oral communication.  Ability to interact with all levels including senior management.
