Position Purpose

The Pharmacy Supervisor oversees the daily operational functions of the Pharmacy department. The partner is responsible for monitoring of work processes, departmental partners and their performance as well as managing the daily workflow of the department.

Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• The partner supervises the certified pharmacy technicians, prescription entry agents and the pharmacy fulfillment clerks to assure the proper processing and filling of prescription orders.
• Service observing of phone communications as well as written communications is performed and documented by the supervisor. Quality customer service is guaranteed through this process.
• Workflow is monitored throughout the day and staffing adjustments made as needed to maintain an even workflow throughout the day.
• Partner must be familiar with departmental and company processes and procedures as they relate to everyday operations. Will trouble shoot and correct concerns or address with appropriate group for resolution.
• Communicates and works with Chief Pharmacist to address concerns and work toward improvements in departmental efficiencies.
• Monitors and records individual statistics in regard to job performance and accuracy ratings for departmental staff to assure a low error margin.
• Works with outside vendors and/or other internal departments on process improvements, programming or process changes.
• Maintains departmental files for further review in reference to daily pharmacy operations for supervised groups including Memos, Standard Operating Procedures and Job Guidance Documents.
• Writes job performance reviews and addresses any performance concerns for direct reports.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervisory responsibilities include 18 to 25 direct reports as well as assisting with supervision of other departmental partners and Call Center agents as needed. In addressing daily program or process concerns, partner will also be working with pharmacists.

Work Environment:

Pharmacy supervisors work at standing work desk and move throughout the numerous areas of the pharmacy. During busier periods in the Pharmacy, the partner will assist with departmental tasks. On occasion this would include assisting in the Pharmacy fulfillment area. In those instances, the partner may need to lift up to 25lbs.

Education/Experience:

A minimum of a High School Diploma/GED is required; however a degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent supervisory experience is preferred. Basic computer knowledge, knowledge of Microsoft office and good written and verbal communication skills are required.
