Purpose

The mechanic assistant will primarily clean trailers to ensure we meet all food safety and sanitation requirements. The assistant will also be responsible for minor maintenance tasks as required by the maintenance shop supervisor.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Mechanic Assistant

·         Utilizing trailer wash system, ensure trailer interiors are cleaned and sanitized.

·         Utilizing power wash equipment ensures areas of trailers that are not covered by the trailer wash system are hand cleaned and sanitized.

·         Exterior wash of trailers in wash bay.

·         Exterior wash of tractors as needed.

·         Ensure wash bay is cleaned up at the end of each day.

·         Review chemical inventory and alert shop supervisor when chemicals require replenishment.

·         Track chemical use for wash\\chemical ratio reporting.

·         Transport of mechanics to and from local vendors for retrieval of repaired equipment.

·         Parts order pick up from local vendors.

·         Parts inventory and restocking.

·         Assistance on the snow removal machine during snow storms.

·         Learn to perform basic repair and maintenance activities as needed.

·         Miscellaneous functions as needed.

Job Requirements

Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·         Desire and ability to progress and become a general mechanic in the future.

·         Preferred experience in maintenance.

·         Clean MVR

·         Commercial driving experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Environment

·         Most work is performed in a semi-temperature-controlled wash bay

·         Incumbent will stand for long periods of time. Walking around trailers will be required.

·         Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching will be required in completion of job duties

·         Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
