Buyer Job Summary
The Buyer is responsible for providing each customer with a consistent and quality assessment of their used merchandise.
Buyer Responsibilities
Reports to the Buying Manager
  • Provide quotes to customers for purchase of product and authorizing the intake of product into store inventory.
  • Maintain the highest level of customer service to each customer.
  • Operation of the Buying Computer, including looking up books, and entering books into BASIL system.
  • Provide a clean workplace which includes dusting, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and assisting in the general maintenance of the building.
  • Ensure efficient and timely evaluation of all incoming product.
Sorter/Shelver Job Summary
The Sorter/Shelver is responsible for processing inventory from the intake area, sorting product for efficient flow, delivering incoming inventory to the sales floor and general maintenance of store merchandising.

 
Sorter/Shelver Responsibilities
Reports to the Inventory Manager
  • Maintain the highest level of customer service to each customer.
  • Provide a clean workplace which includes dusting, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and assisting in the general maintenance of the building.
  • Stock and merchandise the sales floor in accordance with company policies and procedures, maintaining a straight, organized and clean shopping environment.
  • Ensure efficient product flow from intake to sales floor.
  • Ensure quality of product labeling and condition.
  • Maintain merchandising standards as directed by company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness of Intake/Warehouse/Receiving area.
  • Monitor store cleaning supply levels.
Intake/POS Cashier Job Summary
The Cashier is responsible for the overall operation and accounting of their register, providing each customer with the highest level of customer service, completing customer's transactions accurately and in a timely manner, and promoting company initiatives.
POS Cashier Responsibilities
  • Maintain the highest level of customer service to each customer.
  • Utilize a standardized procedure for each customer transaction:
  • Greeting the customers as they approach the register area.
  • Verifying customer ID in BASIL System.
  • Using customers' names whenever possible - from check, or credit card.
  • Thanking the customers and inviting them back to the store.
  • Successfully promote all company initiatives.
  • Maintain merchandising of any product around register area.
  • Balance cash drawer following each shift within allowable variance as stated in Loss Prevention policy.
  • Monitor/maintain register area cleanliness and supply levels.
Intake Cashier Responsibilities
  • Maintain the highest level of customer service to each customer.
  • Utilize a standardized procedure for each customer transaction.
  • Greeting the customers as they approach the intake area.
  • Ensuring that all customers understand the Second & Charles purchase process. Addressing any general store process questions.
  • Verifying and entering in Driver License data into BASIL system for inventory purchase.
  • Using customers' names whenever possible - from check, or credit card.
  • Maintaining proper credit/cash ratio for inventory purchases.
  • Balance cash drawer following each shift within allowable variance as stated in Loss Prevention policy.
  • Monitor/maintain intake area cleanliness and supply levels.
 
 
Job Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Positive background check
  • Strong Customer Service skills.
  • Demonstrated and continued adherence to all Second & Charles Policies and Procedures, including the Code of Conduct and Customer Service Policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to act in a mature and conscientious manner.
  • Completion of required training.
