BASIC FUNCTION:
Safely and effectively manage manufacturing resources through organizational development, process & product optimization and material development to ensure that Aircraft Product’s manufacturing performance improvement objectives are met or exceeded and customer requirements are satisfied.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The successful candidate:
is responsible for operations, product, and process technology and operational budget for all of manufacturing.
must have a comprehensive working knowledge of manufacturing systems, product design or related experience in the manufacturing environment.
is ultimately responsible for maintaining and improving the capability and performance within manufacturing.
is jointly responsible for overall plant manufacturing performance in cooperative and collaborative efforts with the plant engineering/product development groups.
must have the ability to manage multiple priorities, including the balance between activities required to meet the short term plant performance objectives associated with daily operations as well as longer term organizational/technical development needs.
must develop and administer plant policy, interacting with the Senior Operations Manager, HR Manager and Product Managers to insure fair and consistent application of policy across all departmental and organizational boundaries.
must drive the transition of the manufacturing floor into work cells.
is responsible for defining organizational and performance needs, identifying gaps in capability, defining improvement strategies, expectations and development plans.
technical responsibilities include the successful transition of new products into manufacturing, evolution of current products, and process designs for improved manufacturability.
ensures that the organization is capable of providing effective technical support for suppliers and customers worldwide.
REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires a college degree in an engineering or scientific discipline and at least 10 years of experience within manufacturing, engineering or an equivalent environment. Due to the span of managerial control the incumbent must have a proven high degree of leadership ability and technical competence.
