Architectural Specification Representative
 
The Architectural Specification Representative role addresses architect/specifier needs to generate construction documents known as specifications, to paint and maintain new and existing buildings and monumental projects.  This position will call on commercial businesses, building/office space, hotels & resorts etc. The business is primarily new construction but will include existing building renovations as a mix.
 
Preference is given to subject matter experts in AIA MasterFormat and CSI Three Part Format.  Candidates with current architect contacts will be given additional preference.  Prior sales experience is a must as this is a leadership role converting specification opportunities to revenue.  Must understand the relationship between Owner/Architect-Designer/General Contractor/Painter is expected.

 

With regional coverage this role requires consistent drive within the territory and occasional overnight travel to ensure long sales cycles are converted in sales.  The success of this position will rely on self-driven initiative, navigating ambiguity, and an independent personality.  Candidates must embody customer centric communication in person, virtual and verbal.  Tracking projects status will be key to this role.  The first 2 to 3 weeks in this role will consist of a detailed training program.

Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in outside sales with a proven track record of success
  • Business Degree and/or equivalent experience to manage architectural specifications
  • A member of CSI (Construction Specification Institute) is strongly desired
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License
  • Paint/Coatings experience is highly preferred
  • Proficient communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and web based applications
  • Strong presentation skills and competency in front of various audiences. Part of the interview process includes the execution of  a presentation to the PPG team.
  • Proper documentation management is critical 
  • Flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends will be required) and the ability to travel
