SUMMARY OF POSITION: We are seeking energetic, goal-oriented individuals, with an interest for a future in technical service and support in a fast paced environment. Our Tech Rep Trainee program is designed to provide highly skilled paints and coatings professionals with all the skills necessary for a successful career in technical service and support.
Trainees are hired and assigned to a facility with the purpose of them beginning their career learning the product finishes business. The goal is to develop a bench of well-trained employees with opportunities to be promoted to key Technical Service Rep positions in the Division and subsequently contribute to the performance of the assigned Region and Division.
During the training, the Trainee will follow a structured program that will expose them to various aspects of
coatings. The Tech Rep Trainee (TRTP) will:
• Learn how to blend coatings and paints
• Learn and understand the Customer Service function
• Gain a an extensive understanding of the Product Service Room
• Gain a basic understanding of sales and business development
• Gain exposure to sales and technical support
• Learn basic management skills
• Learn all material handling, color matching, tinting, mixing and lab testing equipment as required and in a safe manner.
• Learn to troubleshoot and resolve customer problems with spray equipment
• Learn to evaluate product complaints and decide the best way to resolve the problem
• Learn to troubleshoot on-line technical problems such as correcting batches and formulation of products.
• Gain experience assisting customers in preparing paint specifications to meet product applications.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school education or equivalent is required
• Ability to work all scheduled hours as needed is required.
• Must have a valid driver's license; appropriate insurance as defined by Corporate Policy must be obtained by employee if usage of the employee's personal vehicle is required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.
• Must be able to retrieve material from shelves and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
• Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via the telephone.
• Employee is required to tint paint and therefore, must be able to distinguish one or more chromatic colors.
• Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education or certifications in paints and coatings field preferred.
• Some technical experience in coatings or related field is preferred.
