The Director of Processing is responsible for managing a large team that handles payroll and human resources processing for Albertsons Companies. This role must work closely with cross-functional departments and ensure best practices and delivery of administrative services including payroll and transaction processing according to state/ federal regulations and labor contract agreements. They also must manage and direct a team to handle all HR and Benefit requests and questions with a high degree of quality and customer service.

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree preferable in Business Management, Human Resources, or Finance. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) desirable.

Experience Level:
Ten or more years Human Resources experience required, preferably in Payroll, Benefits, Employment, Training, Employee Relations in a large organization.

Skills and Experiences:
• Exercise judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships
• Possess thorough knowledge of Labor Law as well as principles, practices and procedures of human resources management, and wage and salary administration
• Possess thorough knowledge of laws and regulations relating to employment and safety administration
• Able to think strategically and conceptually while managing details.
• Ability to manage a large workforce and ensure performance goals are met or exceeded.
• Able to think outside the box and demonstrate creativity.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
• Possess a sense of urgency and business orientation.
• Able to work independently but be a strong team player.

Key Accountabilities:
• Manage a large team of Employee Service Center (ESC) staff that administers payroll processing and answers HR and payroll related questions for a 200,000 national workforce.
• Develop and set requirements for process improvements as it relates to pay, bonus, benefit programs and related processes managed by the ESC.
• Partner with HRIS, Compensation and Benefit teams for the design, development, testing and implementation of processes and procedures identified. This includes, but is not limited to, the change control process with IT, PeopleSoft upgrades and building Access databases (Standardizing I9s).
• Monitor new labor trends, state, and federal labor and employment laws.
• Work as a strategic business partner with Corporate HR, Governmental Affairs, Labor, and Legal departments to develop strategies related to the administration of ESC processes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
• Communicate and ensure ESC employees understand labor laws, regulations, and organizational policies so they can properly direct employee requests or questions.
• Support Corporate Compensation and Benefits by ensuring that ESC staff adhere to established compensation and benefits practices and procedures.
• Direct and establish work rules and monitor their application and enforcement to ensure fairness and consistency across the ESC organization.
• Partner with labor contracts team and closely monitor any changes in union contracts. Work with cross functional teams to ensure all payroll tables are properly updated and that staff are aware of any changes that might effect payroll administration or policy.
