Currently we are seeking a Business Development Manager to join our team. This is a remote position which can reside anywhere in the Midwest, Northeast or Mid Atlantic of the US.
This Business Development Manager is within a target segment of the store and dealer group. It is targeted as a high growth category where the stores and dealer group sees considerable opportunities as a component of the overall market segment. Success with corporate accounts feeds local market sales opportunities for new construction, renovation and maintenance sales that are not otherwise accessible locally. The focus of this role is New Home Construction respectively.
Expectations for this role include:
Drive new business sales with corporate accounts and achieve annual sales targets.
Focus on key commercial growth segments currently identified as new multifamily, new home construction.
Develop the sales strategy to identify, prioritize and target the high potential accounts within target segments.
Work with National Sales Manager of New Home Construction to communicate all corporate account information to field sales, stores organization and participating dealers, including specs, local targets, color and pricing information.
Analyze financial data on a regular basis, with the ability to determine and evaluate the need for change to drive financial gains.
Implement necessary cost controls, execute on growth plans and strategies through all channels. Lead established pricing policies to maximize sales and margins.
Compile all reports required by Commercial Manager and Corporate Accounts Manager on a timely basis.
Maintain accurate records on all accounts and prospects including contacts, call activity and account specs, pricing, colors, reporting requirements, etc.
Coordinate as required with field sales managers and sales reps their roles and requirements on projects.
Requirements:
5 years of paint or coatings experience and or and/or working with the home building industry
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in corporate (national) account sales with a proven track record of success.
Strong orientation to new business development.
Outstanding negotiating and conflict management capabilities.
High degree of comfort around senior executives and is cable to effectively build long term relationships with these individuals.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Proficient written communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and web based applications.
Possess financial acumen (Understanding of financial statements, customer contribution and financial drivers at customer).
Flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends required) and ability to travel extensively (60% - 70%).
Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Extensive nationwide travel required.
Physical Work Requirements:
Travel 60% on average
If travel destination is 5 hours or less, then travel by vehicle requiring sitting and driving for long periods of time. - If travel destination is more than a 5 hour drive, then flying is required. Sitting in plans up to 6 hours depending on where the destination is. Walking through terminals and navigating airport connections.
Carrying luggage and brief case – all items necessary to work on the road and maintain professional business dress/acumen.
Sleeping in different hotels each week and sometimes each night depending on the schedule.
Meals on the road – with excessive travel, one must adapt to eating meals in restaurants, hotels, etc. Entertaining client for breakfast, lunch and dinner is also a part of the job.
Driving rental cars in different cities – navigating different cities, various terrain and weather and different vehicles.
Office
Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
Working on a computer and significant phone time.
Customer meetings –
Walking or driving or public transportations (taxi, etc.) to and from customer location.
Sitting in meetings with customers.
Meeting customers on job site – walking properties and touring their facilities.
