Key Responsibilities
The Category Sourcing Lead is responsible for delivering significant value by leveraging PPG spend throughout USCA and driving contract compliance. This will take strong collaboration with key stakeholders at the manufacturing sites and teamwork with the other members of the general purchasing team. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager for the Manufacturing & Technical team and is considered a key position within the team and succession planning pipeline.
Responsible to manage the competitive sourcing of $50MM -$75MM USD of assigned category spend for PPG. Assigned categories will be based on incumbents previous work experience and career plan.
Develops multi-year strategies for categories in order to maximize value by utilizing the Nine Step Strategic Sourcing Process to uncover and help drive sustainable cost reductions. This should include benchmarking from within and outside PPG. Utilization of the Nine Step Strategic Sourcing process is mandatory for this role.
Ensures purchasing function is carried out in an ethical and professional manner while fostering purchasing practices that comply with all Corporate Purchasing Policies.
Responsible for communicating updates both locally and on a corporate level (e.g. weekly & monthly reports, PSI) both timely and in a professional and accurate manner. This includes engineering, shipping, operations, maintenance, accounting, EH&S and Quality.
Develops a formal quarterly review process to evaluate purchasing projects and supplier service issues with management
Delivers on cost savings/cost avoidance initiatives through both individual contribution and efforts of the local purchasing teams.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical related field of study required
Minimum 5 years procurement experience in a strategic sourcing environment
Previous Capital Expenditure and/or MRO experience required
Proven experience of providing tangible cost savings
Previous strategic sourcing experience required
Ability to evaluate, recommend and drive change with the willingness to challenge the status quo.
Must have good interpersonal skills that allow them to work with all levels of manufacturing and management.
Must have leadership drive, influencing skills, ability to work on many projects at one time and be able to manage complexity through a structured approach.
Ability to travel 20% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Previous experience using Oracle, Arriba and/or SAP
Master’s Degree in a business or technical field of study
