This position is located at the Oak Creek, WI plant, the second largest coatings plant in PPG and one of the largest coatings manufacturing plants in the world. The plant is located in the suburbs of Milwaukee, a growing city with exceptional cultural activities and a vibrant downtown social scene and named one of the Top Ten Cities for Young Professionals. Oak Creek is just a short 90 minute commute to downtown Chicago.

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Process Engineer role is critical to the success of our resin operation that includes resin rector systems. In the role, the PE is responsible for managing 1-2 resin reactor systems driving cost control, efficiency, batch quality and asset utilization. As a leader in the organization, the PE must maintain a safe work environment and nurture a safety conscious work group. In order to become successful and within the first 6 months, the PE must be able to quickly come up to speed on the operation including products, processes and customers. A key focus of this role is being able to identify problems, implement solutions and seek out continuous improvement.

 

The Process Engineer will be working with a successful team of resin engineers and this is an excellent opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of resin reactor systems and chemistry, reactor optimization, process problem solving and working effectively with other teams.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

 

  • Functioning as a technical consultant on resin reactor issues. Interact with other locations, technical departments, Engineering, EHS, Operations Planning and QA.
  • Develop procedures for the safe and efficient production of resins.
  • Monitor and improve existing methods and procedures.
  • Improve process safety management systems.
  • Provide technical support for Production Operators, including off-shifts and weekends.
  • Work effectively with Operators, Supervisors, Mechanics and contractors on a daily basis.
 
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Engineering.
  • 1 year of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.S. Chemical Engineering
  • Resin/Chemical manufacturing experience
