Key Responsibilities
 

The Inside Sales organization manages the small to mid-size Industrial customers in the Industrial Coatings business unit.  They prospect, sell to and manage accounts in the Light Industrial Coatings market segment. 

The Inside Sales Representative supports the profitable sales growth for PPG’s Industrial Coatings business. The roles serves to promote a single sourcing strategy for PPG’s Industrial Coatings business by becoming knowledgeable in multiple technologies. The primary technologies for proficiency will be liquid and powder coatings.  Other technologies for familiarity and potential specialization include: electrocoat and pretreatment and specialty product chemistries such as phosphates, cleaners, rust inhibitors, solvents, adhesives, paint strippers, and drawing and stamping compounds. 

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate daily phone sales presentations to targeted accounts and/or prospective customers
  • Maintain current base of accounts through appropriate follow-up call and prospecting activities
  • Secure new projects in existing accounts; Maintain pipeline of opportunities
  • Submit pipeline status reports on sales activities versus plan
  • Team-sell with IC Field Sales Reps
  • Transition accounts from the field to inside sales.
  • Participate in sales blitzes to qualify new target accounts
  • Proactive involvement in keeping customers to payment terms
  • Prepare annual business plans and P&LP documents twice per year.
  • Management of an Inside Sales territory with an average size of $2-3MM.
  • Lead account management role for business retention purposes.  The elements of account management include:
    • Develop and maintain key relationships within the business and at customers.
    • Understanding the competitive situation.
    • Understanding the market / technical situation and initiating appropriate team follow-through actions.
    • Increasing share of wallet by proposing new products to the customer. 
    • Respond to requests from the customer. 
    • Maintain a 90% current AR percent for account base.
  • Maintain portfolio of targets, close small accounts, and drive collaboration with TrueFinish Field Reps to close midsize accounts.
  • Use of Microsoft CRM to manage accounts, contacts, leads, and opportunities.

Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, a technical degree or equivalent experience. 
  • B2B phone sales experience is required; experience in commercial / industrial sales or ecommerce is preferred.
  • Self-motivated, confident, and a high level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organize to manage complexity
  • Thorough knowledge of telephone sales/marketing methods
  • Ability to excel in a team environment
  • Proficiency in windows based computer software including word documents and excel spreadsheets. Experience with a CRM system  is preferred
  • Strong math and/or basic accounting knowledge.
