The UC Network Engineer Engineers execute the design of the solution. During Design Phase, the UC Network Engineer will work review and analyze the proposed Architecture and Design. They will assist with developing Detailed Design and Testing documentation. They will then be responsible for testing in the Lab environment. During the Integration Phase, they will work to stage the equipment and to install it at the Data Centers. They will also work with engineers at the Customer locations to assist with integration there. They will work to ensure that the Site Readiness and Cutover milestones are met. . The UC Network Engineer will schedule and coordinate lifecycle configuration changes, including configuration changes and service patches.
Support the design, test, and integration initiatives. Execute installation plans provided by program leadership. Work with other AT&T and contractor engineers. Provide designinput through peer reviews as requirements are turned into design documents. Perform specific site and core system tests including installation test, deployment tests, functional test, and production release. Provide expert level trobleshooting and configuration for multiple technologies asscoicated with unified communications produc and services. Support the planning and migration efforts. Work to resolve any escalation issues from the NOC. A person seeking this position would need to be very comfortable presenting to groups; either leading discussions or driving an agenda of meetings with customers on various topics related to networking, IP routing, switching and Telephony. Self-motivated and must work with little guidance making decisions about design without management intervention, however, balancing this with communication and keeping management informed about progress and status of deployments.
This person would possess a total understanding of all technologies involved in this area to include, IP, T1, T3, ISDN and SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) Understanding of routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP and RIP. Understanding of Call Center technology such as ADC, queueing and IVP. Knowledge of vendor hardware platforms such as voice gateway hardware (routers and gateways, hardware platform requirements).
Work Experience: Deployment and installation of IP Telephony systems (either Nortel, Cisco or Avaya) is a must have requirement. Conceptual design, gathering customer requirements and developing design requirements and turning that into a set of requirements for system deployment.
