OpenStack Engineer (Government)

 AT&T is seeking an OpenStack Engineer to join our Global Business - Public Sector Solutions team.  As an OpenStack Engineer, you will work with Cloud and Network Engineers to design, deploy, maintain, and upgrade cloud systems across AT&T networks and labs. The job requires interaction with cross-functional peers in AT&T and vendors to develop product roadmaps, establish priorities, create schedules, provide status, and resolve issues.
  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field from an accredited university. Master’s or PhD degrees in the above subjects is preferred.
  • Experience with OpenStack deployment and automation projects such as Heat, Fuel, and Helm to include automation tools. Wrote Heat templates, Fuel plugins, or Helm charts to deploy, manage, or upgrade OpenStack services.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or Salt. At a minimum, wrote automation scripts to automate the deployment or management of IT systems such as web servers, proxies, DNS, etc. Prefer automation tool experience related to OpenStack services, especially to include Heat, Fuel, and Helm.
  • Programming experience with scripting tools to include at least Python; others may include Bash.
  • Understand and experience with OpenStack architecture and services to include OpenStack projects (Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Glance, etc.) and support components (databases, message queues, web servers, web proxies, etc.)
  • Experience with deployment and operations with OpenStack
  • Comfortable at Linux Command line

Required Clearance: Must be a US Citizen and possess TS/SCI with poly or be able to attain TS/SCI with poly

Desired:
  • Experience in the research, development, build, and demonstration of proof-of-concept systems and/or trials
  • Experience with web technologies such as web servers (especially Apache), web proxies (especially HA Proxy), databases (especially MySQL/MariaDB and MongoDB), and web programming languages (especially Python, Python Web Services Gateway Interface, and PHP)
  • Virtualization experience, especially with Ubuntu KVM
  • Networking knowledge that includes TCP, UDP, IP, SSH, VLAN, VRF, DNS, and HTTP
  • Knowledge of Contrail and SDN
