ACME Markets, one of the most prominent retailers in Greater Philadelphia, has recently expanded its store base in the New York, Connecticut, and Northern New Jersey markets. ACME Markets is a division of Albertsons, one of the largest food and drug retailers in the United States. The ACME Summer Management Internship is an exciting opportunity for college sophomores and juniors interested in exploring a career in the field of retail management. The 12-week summer program focuses on all facets of our industry. Candidates must be full-time students majoring in a field of business.
PROGRAM FOCUS
The intern will be placed in a training store in one of the states where we operate (PA, DE, NJ, MD, NY, CT) and will work 40 hours per week. Training will occur in all of our customer service areas including front end, service center, grocery, deli/meat/seafood, bakery, produce, and floral. Interns will have the opportunity to work in groups to complete projects that add value to the company. Interns will also have the opportunity to apply their classroom learning to real-life business situations. Several group meetings and field trips are included to continuously engage each student. Upon completion of the 12-week program, the intern is evaluated and a mutual decision is made concerning their interest in continuing to explore a career in store management.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
•Interest in pursuing a career in retail management.
•College sophomore or junior currently enrolled full-time in a four (4) year college degree program with a business-focused major.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT • Stores are usually open 7 days a week, interns work a 5-day work week, excluding Sundays. • Some positions could require the performance of repetitive tasks. • Some positions require significant lifting and carrying of product. • Retail store conditions are generally dry with moderate temperature. • Cooler conditions may be wet or dry, and usually cold. • Freezer conditions are usually very cold. • Interns must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that meets the needs of the training assignment. • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
