About the Position:
The Associate Merchandiser collaborates with the Merchant in driving the overall direction and performance of their respective categories through the entire Product Life Cycle process. Responsible for translating knowledge of brand-specific and marketplace trends into an actionable annual and seasonal business plan to achieve sales and profit plans for the category or department.
Responsibilities:
Partners with Merchant, in all facets of managing successful departments, to meet financial objectives
Financial responsibility for one dept, while performing assistant level duties for other dept(s)
Analyzes current business trends; Identifies business opportunities and risks through analyzing sales performance, market trends, and the competitive landscape
Partners with:
Merchant, Planning, and Web production/Marketing to execute promotional and investment strategies to effectively manage sales, gross margin, and inventory
Merchant on executing the assortment throughout the buy process (recommending online exclusives to balance out assortment, rolling assortment sheets, fabric commits, etc.)
Reconciles receipts, manages PO process; Responsible for completion and maintenance of on order/assortment sheets
Communicates changes in deliveries, receipt quantities and other merchandise operations to appropriate members of the cross-functional team on a timely basis (including planning, sourcing, photography, and web production)
Shops competition on a monthly basis for current fashion trends, price points and promotional activity as well as technical fit
Generates various business analyses (weekly, monthly and seasonally)
Prepares analysis for key PLC events as directed by merchant (including hindsight, investment review, etc.)
PO Workbench management
Work with cross-functional team to validate four-way match information prior to PO creation
Update assortment sheets accordingly and extract to workbench
Create purchase orders and revisions in workbench
Complete size breaks using allocation tool
People Management
Builds collaborative relationships with cross-functional team members
Interfaces professionally and works effectively in group settings
Mentors, trains, and coaches temps on performance expectations (where applicable)
Assists in building and maintaining a highly engaged team
Handles other responsibilities and projects, as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent and 2-4 years prior experience as an Assistant Merchandiser/Buyer
