HR Generalist

US Foods Inc. - Rosemont, Chicago Metro

Collaborates with leaders in the creation and implementation of short and long-term talent initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of performance, as well as attainment of business unit and corporate goals.  These plans may include strategies associated with talent attraction, engagement, retention, development, compensation or performance management.

 

Advise supervisors and managers on application of Company policies to ensure consistency and accurate policy interpretation. 

 

Facilitates timely resolution of employee relations issues while maintaining an appropriate balance between employee and management advocacy. 

 

Counsel managers and supervisors on disciplinary actions, procedures and appropriate documentation. Review performance improvement plans and provide feedback to leaders prior to communicating with employees.

 

Provides counsel to managers, supervisors, and employees about development tools and opportunities to develop new skills and prepare for advancement. Supports managers in preparing Individual Development Plans.

 

Partners with HR Centers of Excellence regarding strategies for filling roles with top talent, building talent capabilities, and compensation reviews.

Education/Training:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; SHRM certification desirable


Related Experience: Minimum 4 years HR experience with at least 2 in professional (non-administrative) role. Experience consulting with and advising management teams. Prior experience with affirmative action requirements at a Federal government contractor preferred. Familiarity with legislation concerning employment such as: ADA, FMLA, EEOC, FLSA, Title VII.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to make timely and informed decisions and understand when to escalate issues. Effective coaching, performance management, and presentation skills; Demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster cultural change;

ability to interact with all employee levels. Experience working with MS Office and Workday (or similar HR systems) preferred.
