As a Lead Engineer on the Performance Services Team, you will leverage your technical and business acumen in an effort to provide superior development and production support for our Exadata Oracle Database environment. In addition, you will drive and participate in efforts to ensure platform stability in an effort to maximize performance of our environments.

- Partner with application owners/teams to understand application and business needs and LOS (level of service)
- Partner with application owners/teams on application performance tuning activities
- Advise and perform data management activities including data retention, data purge, partitioning, and index placement
- Devise and implement optimal solutions for memory management and storage management
- Perform SQL tuning through the use common tools such as SQL monitor reports, AWR, ASH, and ADDM
- Provide consultation on HA (high availability) architectures
- Performing problem resolution for complex issues including root cause analysis, and outlining resolution options
- Consulting with development teams to advise on physical database architecture in support of performance best practices
- Providing off-hours support, when required, for critical production issues.
- Ensuring system documentation is complete per TTS (Target Technology Services) standards
- Ensuring high quality by participating in and following TTS processes
- Tracking time and fulfilling required status reporting requirements
- Estimating tasks for project planning and setting timelines
- Participating in the creation and execution of project plans
- Providing management and other team members clear and timely updates on status of assigned responsibilities
- Staying current with technology and evaluating its impact on new and existing applications and platforms
- Demonstrating growing application and technical knowledge
- Demonstrating growing business and financial knowledge
- Providing technical expertise in database support throughout all phases of break-fix (problem identification, resolution, test, deployment, and turnover)
- Participating in database strategic planning (business and technology trends)
Requirements
- BA/BS or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years total work experience
- Has in-depth knowledge of state-of-the art engineering technical approaches in design, build, testing, debugging problems as required by domain
- Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
- Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
