Supply Chain Engineering: Lead Equipment Engineer – Equipment Management Team

In this role, as part of the Supply Chain Engineering team, the Lead Equipment Engineer supports Target’s Global Supply Chain and Logistics (GSCL) network of 40 different Distribution, Fulfillment, and Omni-channel facilities by effectively managing a variety of our supply chain building infrastructure assets. The Lead Equipment Engineer will ensure optimal levels of reliability, efficiency, and business value of our assets to support Target’s Global Supply Chain & Logistics business objectives (current state and future state).
This role has three “must have” skill sets:
Industrial or Electrical Engineering experience
Strong Lean Thinking and Structured Problem Solving skill sets
Advanced proficiency in Program Management
Important components to these skill sets are as follows.
Industrial or Electrical Engineering experience:
Experienced with the design, improvement, installation, and life cycle management of integrated systems involving people, process, and technology.
Strong ability to apply engineering methods and data analysis to specify, monitor, and manage the systems or asset categories under management.
Strong Lean Thinking and Structured Problem Solving skill sets:
Ability to design/redesign a process to eliminate waste and streamline processes for all buildings across our network. The scope also would include working with processes that involve external vendors.
Strong proficiency in problem statement creation.
Comfortable communicating with Sr. Director up to EVP level leaders in narrative form, demonstrating clear logical breakdown of a situation, problem, or recommendation.
Familiar with tools such as Fishbone, RCA, A3 problem solving, FMEA, DOE, and confidence to facilitate the application of these tools without support from other experts.
Advanced proficiency in Program Management:
Ability to set up, coordinate, and drive execution of multiple projects supporting an overall program or programs.
Manage communications and expectations of a wide set of cross-functional stakeholders
These skills will primarily be applied across Asset Management and Maintenance responsibilities. Example responsibilities:
Develop and monitor a Maintenance strategy and plan for your assets to ensure predictable and acceptable levels of performance throughout the asset’s lifespan (including but not limited to creating Preventative Maintenance schedules, Job Plan instructions, Work Order execution, Problem/Cause/Remedy, Regulatory Compliance oversight, equipment safety, and work order execution)
Strong analytic thought leadership around predictive analytics, root cause analysis, and statistical modeling to support proper management of assets, Quality, Reliability, Maintenance, Total Cost of Ownership, and Lifecycle planning
Ability to use financial analysis tools to develop business cases for upgrades or system replacements in Capital Expenditure budgets
Development of Expense budget inputs for field GSCL sites based on financial models and previous expenditures
Develop strong partnerships with internal partners and with equipment and technology vendors to ensure effective systems, projects, and support
Vendor management responsibilities can include Vendor Business Reviews, performance management discussions, contract development, and owning the scope of work with your vendors
Partner with various levels of field leaders across our entire GSCL network to develop, implement, and execute projects or on-going support initiatives

Dock Systems
Industrial Building Electrical Systems
Cardboard Balers or Compactors
Interior/Exterior Lighting Systems

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or Bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience involving one or more of the “must have” attributes.
6 or more years of Logistics, Supply Chain, Industrial or Reliability Engineering, or facilities management experience
Ability to effectively collaborate with and influence numerous internal and external partners
Strong foundation of mathematical/analytical principles
Highly proficient in independent problem solving, creating plans and delivering results
Ability to multi-task a wide variety of requests and tasks, confidently shifting and reprioritizing work based on effort, risk, impact, and customer
Desire to learn new capabilities and enable others to do the same
Willing to take risks, challenge the status quo and work under ambiguous circumstances
Up to 25% work travel
Desired Requirements
Maintenance / Asset Management experience
Quality or Reliability Engineering experience (ASQ certifications)
Lean Six Sigma or other Quality Control/Management systems
Financial planning experience (OPEX and CAPEX budget development)
Experience with Maximo 7.x or comparable Asset Management/CMMS software
Advanced Science or Engineering degree
