A role with Shortage Operations is an opportunity to positively impact shortage results in stores and supply chain by leading a team that drives end to end shortage process improvement. Your analytical skills will come into play as you research and evaluate shortage results to resolve large-scale shortage drivers across all process and merchant categories while developing long term shortage solutions. And you’ll employ the merchandise protection strategies that keep Target’s merchandise safe and secure. You’ll also have a hand in providing valuable shortage tools and resources for Assets Protection teams across the field organization.
In Assets Protection we identify, evaluate and mitigate risks to team members, stores and guests. We create safe and secure environments and control shortage by preventing theft and fraud and supporting sound operations. In this role you will provide strategic leadership for end to end process shortage initiatives across Merchandising, Distribution and Store Operations. As an Assets Protection Director, you will develop and maintain HQ, Merchant, Stores, Distribution, Store Operations, and Inventory Accounting partnerships to implement programs and projects that drive continuous improvement. You will be responsible for aligning company programs and processes with shortage prevention initiatives to protect our company assets. In this role you will implement training, programs and projects to drive shortage reduction across HQ, Merchants, Distribution and Stores for a prioritized set of categories. This is accomplished by:
Leading the Shortage Operations Team - setting goals and leading efforts to implement strategies that address shortage opportunities across the enterprise
Driving strategies that are aligned to enterprise focuses and Assets Protection’s key initiatives.
Developing and maintaining partnerships with Merchants, Store Operations/ Store Merchants and Supply Chain senior leadership to support shortage reduction priorities. Maintains cooperative working relationships with both internal and external partners, specifically in Stores, Distribution, AP field and HQ teams, Finance and Merchandising.
Proactively develops shortage awareness and mitigation tactics for new and emerging Merchant, DC and Store processes and programs by knowing and understanding both internal and external trends
Communicates vision and provides feedback to key stakeholders, and senior management throughout the organization
Partnering with Inventory Accounting, Shortage Research and Analysis and Merchant Finance to ensure all teams are aligned and supporting key initiatives
Consulting, teaching and training shortage reduction tactics to field teams through Learning and Development projects, advocate and sponsor programs
Supporting the shortage review process and analysis process to ensure lessons learned, follow ups and new best practices are implemented to reduce future risk
Holding teams accountable to using shortage tools, resources and reporting
Leading AP teams to drive a prevention-first culture to deter operational and/or theft shortage by using proper channels and tactics to resolve opportunities.
Influencing Planogram design and packaging standards to implement effective merchandise protection policies and best practices to deter theft in stores.
Driving the team to effectively create and leverage tools, technology, tactics and resources to support the company purpose and beliefs.
Leading teams to identify business opportunities utilizing AP technology and reporting, such as Target Video Solutions (TVS), to positively impact profitability.
Supporting effective industry partnerships by benchmarking and learning from the failures and successes of competitors.
Overseeing shortage analysis, trend tracking, and reporting.

About You:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
More than 10 years previous management experience
Outstanding leadership and decision making skills.
Proven written and oral communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
