Space & Presentation Engineering – Software Engineer

About You:
You are a software engineer with an innovative streak who loves keeping abreast of the latest industry trends while exercising good judgement in the technologies you choose to use.  You understand open-source, full-stack web-app development for front-end and back-end – and have experience supporting these technologies in operation. 

About This Opportunity:
As part of Space & Presentation Engineering, you will be part of developing and launching new, innovative applications and services that touch every single Target store – this a high-impact opportunity.  The products you will engineer are used by Target Team Members to manage space usage within stores and product presentation to Guests.  You will have the opportunity to design, develop, and support innovative solutions across a variety of applications, platforms and environments, building tomorrow’s technologies.  Use your skills, experience and talents to be a part of groundbreaking thinking and visionary goals.  

  • Work closely with other engineers and partners to ensure development meets business needs.
  • Develop software and systems using test driven development and continuous integration practices.
  • Unit test code and write automated functional tests.
  • Follow industry standard agile scrum software development methodology.
  • Research technologies and make software recommendations.
  • Innovate constantly and maintain Target’s technical edge.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 years of software development experience.
  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST, JSON, SQL, RDBMS, and other web-based open-source development technologies.
  • Experience with UI technologies including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience engineering and supporting distributed systems.
  • Strong problem solving and thought partnership skills.
  • Team attitude.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
 Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with React/Redux.
  • Experience with CI/CD development technologies.
  • Experience with JDA Space Planning.
