Area Manager Last Mile - Washington DC Area

Area Manager: Greater Washington DC Area
The primary function of this role is to manage the performance of carriers in their respective markets for convenience options like From Store Same Day Delivery, etc. and ensure a seamless Guest experience. This role is responsible for On-Time and In-full performance metrics goals for their respective market. 


An ideal candidate is a high energy leader who has proven ability within Transportation space and has developed carrier relationships (market specific understanding).  This role requires the ability to deal with ambiguous problems and quickly adapt to changes in processes and business needs.


Scope

  • Works with Carrier Dispatch teams in major metro markets within the Last Mile Delivery Program to ensure appropriate market level localization of a national level program with regards to carrier performance. 
  • Scheduled Same Day Delivery from Stores
  • Scheduled Online Delivery (Same Day or Future Day)
  • On Demand Delivery
  • White Glove and Value-Added Delivery Services


Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and mobilizes carriers for a given market
  • Own Carrier performance management to deliver on the agreed service levels
  • Responsible for training and performance management of carriers
  • Work as the in-field liaison between the FRS Command Center and carrier dispatch to resolve carrier performance issues
  • Manage relationship with multiple carriers in a given market
  • Leverage metrics to monitor performance of carriers. Partner with HQ leadership to do deep dive on issues and recommend innovative solutions
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews and training with carriers to ensure new process adherence
  • Partner with the HQ team to introduce new carriers in a market which can support the scale and complexity of Target
  • Build best practices for carrier driver pickup at all fulfilment locations by understanding specific local nuances
  • Use Guest feedback from the GR team and work with carriers to improve performance
  • Works with HQ Carrier Management team to provide market specific feedback to define future expansion policies
  • Co-ordinates with all partners listed below and delivers successful operations
  • Be the voice of the Guest and provide feedback to HQ Operations leadership on Guest needs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Operations, Supply Chain, Management or an equivalent degree or experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in retail and or FMCG domain
  • Has worked in Last Mile delivery space or Transportation
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set and self starter
  • In depth knowledge of the local market highly preferred
