JANITOR SUPERVISOR - Full Time

Job Summary: Responsible for providing janitorial services for work spaces, buildings, grounds of the Exchange. Supervises approximately 3-8 janitorial employees, primarily in grade NA-2. Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises a group of janitors performing a variety of cleaning duties such as sweeping, waxing, stripping, scrubbing, buffing, vacuuming NEX stores and offices; emptying garbage, dusting office furniture, shampooing rugs, cleaning air vents, mirrors; disinfecting and deodorizing toilet bowls, lavatories, urinals, water fountains; washing walls, glass doors and main partitions; sweeping parking lots and cleaning sidewalks of adjoining buildings. - Makes assignments and reassignments, as necessary; answers questions of subordinates; approves leave and prepares work performance reviews. Makes recomendations regarding adequate staffing for area of responsibility; coordinates with supervisor on matters relating to hiring, discipline and termination; resolves or makes recommendations for the resolution of problems relating thereto. - Is responsible for the maintenance of adequate supplies and equipment and initiates procurement of supplies and equipment in keeping with the Price Agreement Bulletins. Makes daily inspection of areas and follows prescribed maintenance program requirements. - Insures the principles and policies of the Equal Employment Opportunity Program (EEO) are carried out in performing supervisory responsibilities. - Performs other related duties as assigned Six months experience performing cleaning tasks using industrial type cleaning equipment. Physical requirements: Moderately heavy physical effort is used occasionally in moving, setting up and working from ladders and scaffolds. Frequently lifts and moves objects weighing about 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing over 50 pounds.
