Overview: The Associate Planner supports the Associate Buyer in analyzing, tracking and reporting on data to assist in the identification and execution of merchandise plans for gourmet foods and candy. The Associate Planner will provide analytical support to the Associate Buyer in order to maximize business opportunities.

Essential Functions:
· Follows Food Division Best Practices.
· Partner with Senior Buyer and Associate Buyer to develop Gourmet targets that support Food Division Sales, margin and turnover objectives.
· Manage monthly Gourmet performance and assist the Food Associate Buyer in evaluating issues and opportunities.
· Support the team with data and analysis. Draw conclusions about opportunities and liabilities and follow through to execution.
· Support the Director in developing long-range seasonal targets. Ensure division alignment to these goals.
· Assist in forecasting sales, markdowns, receipts and inventory to develop accurate buy meeting goals.
· Assist with the input accurate forecasts, evaluating financial components based on current trend and knowledge of future events which will impact the business.
· Act as point of contact for stores and field teams to support Gourmet Foods and Bulk Candy initiatives.
· Administrative support of buying systems and tools (purchase orders, signs, website).
· Use 20/20 reporting to identify and react to product opportunities, product risks and aged inventory.
· Understand target customer to ensure customer satisfaction, follows My Macy’s strategy when planning location assortment plans.
· Support marketing plans and promotional calendar.
· Reconcile marketing plans with assortment and financial plans.
· Develop visual presentation guidelines for the stores to support seasonal strategies.
· Maintain collaborative partnerships and negotiate effectively with vendors and internal colleagues.
· Meet highest standards of workplace safety, sanitation, and equipment care as set by Health Department and company policy.
· Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Qualifications:
· Education/Experience Preferred College degree in Business, Finance or Marketing. Two plus years retail buying or planning experience.
· Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports, procedure manuals and recipes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Mathematical Skills: Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Understanding of P&L statements, food costs and payroll budgets.
· Reasoning Ability: Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to anticipate and solve problems.
· Physical Demands: This position involves regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. May involve long periods of time sitting at a desk. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Must be able to move and/or lift at least 30 lbs. This position is exposed to high levels of heat within an enclosed space.
· Other skills: Strong leadership profile and excellent negotiation skills. Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This position is required to use potentially hazardous restaurant equipment. Must role model and coach safe equipment use and food safety practices. Working understanding of Windows based systems.
· Work Hours: Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
