Senior-Big Data Engineer

Position summary:

 

Senior-Big Data Engineer – CDO Business Intelligence will have in-depth knowledge of Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, Hadoop, Big Data and Data marts. Candidate must be knowledgeable of data integration tools and possess the ability to use these tools efficiently within a fast-paced environment.  The candidate will be responsible for interpreting the requirements of various Business Intelligence and Big Data Analytic Use Cases and deliver the data needs for ad-hoc analysis and driving the implementation of business ready data to help enable self-service. This role is accountable for delivery of BI projects and BI as a Service (BIaaS) while collaborating with peers across BI and CDO. 

 

Responsibilities:

• Help define data requirements, gather and mine large scale of structured and unstructured data.
• Support the standardization, customization and ad-hoc data analysis, and develop the mechanisms to ingest, analyze, validate, normalize and clean data.
• Perform data analytics, data sourcing and preparation to visualize data and enable self-service.
• Work closely with BI Practitioners, Solution Analysts, Architects and Designers to develop and deploy business ready data.
• Deliver BI-as-a-Service (BIaaS) initiatives through Rapid Development Teams.
• Define processes to be able to quickly deliver business value through agile development.
• Define and adhere to standards and strategic objectives and meets committed timeframes and schedules.
• Assume ownership of availability and the quality of business ready data.
• Enable self-service to business users thorough transformed data.
• Understand how different BI tools interact with databases, data warehouse and Hadoop platforms, and support the implementation of BI tools.
• Occasional business travel as needed to support business partners or critical project delivery. In addition, may need to work occasional weekends during critical project releases and business deadlines.
• Deliver work through outsourced partner.

• Experience with Hadoop environment (including Hive, Impala, Sqoop, Spark etc.) Data Warehouse (Vertica and Teradata) ETL tools like (Informatica and MS SSIS)
• Ideal candidate will have 8 plus years SQL database development experience (advanced SQL skills are needed)
• Excellent understanding of the architecture of BI ecosystem, specifically ETL/ELT and Hadoop server architecture.
• Experience with data profiling, transformation, curation and anonymization.
• Excellent knowledge of standard concepts, best practices, and procedures within a business intelligence environment
• Strong knowledge and experience in dimensional star-schema models (Kimball) and relational database design and usage,
• Familiarity with Business Intelligence analytics tools that support OLAP / ROLAP / MOLAP / HOLAP/ Metadata Management/ Reporting
• Experience of agile development processes
• Experience leveraging outsourced development for delivery
• Effective communication and presentation at senior levels of the organization; talented in simplifying complexity

• BA/BS in Computer Science/Management Information Systems or equivalent business degree and strong work experience
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence area specifically with experience in analysis, solution design, data integration and metadata management
