Network Engineer (Government)

AT&T is seeking hard-working and dependable candidates to support of the GSM-O contract at Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) located at Scott AFB, IL. DISA acts as the provider of GIG/Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to its customers the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations.

  • Candidate is familiar performing within a fixed price, performance-based environment where performance is based on pre-determined Service Level Agreement’s (SLA’s) or Acceptable Levels of Performance (ALP’s).
  • Candidate is required to support the development, documentation and tracking of measurements and metrics relevant to the ALP’s.
  • Member of the network team supporting DISA GSM-O program.
  • Interfaces with Government counterparts, both CONUS and OCONUS, as well as LM and other subcontractor team members.
  • Responsible for the network components used on the program with specific responsibilities including but not limited to evaluate system network requirements and make appropriate technical recommendations.
  • Extensive network integration experience for a variety of network protocol standards.
  • Experience analyzing VLAN, routing, IP addressing and sub-netting.
  • Excellent project, technical, interpersonal, presentation and problem management skills.
  • Use network monitoring tools to identify problems or help customers requiring assistance with network hardware, software, or inquiries.
  • Provide problem determination/resolution based upon personal experience, expert opinion and standard operating procedures, including immediate resolution where possible.
  • Works with other network technologists that are involved in network monitoring and maintenance, configuration management, and customer support.
  • Document and propose solutions for network problems and work with appropriate personnel to achieve resolution.
  • Participate in resolution of service-related issues.
  • Interface with users and support organizations to ensure smooth flow of communications in all directions.
  • Extensive network integration experience for a variety of network protocol standards.
  • Experience analyzing VLAN, routing, IP Addressing and sub-netting.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skill, project, technical, interpersonal, presentation and problem management skills.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures to include COMSEC.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned.
  • Attends weekly meetings and working groups to address network issues and suggested improvement.
  • The candidate may be asked to work swings or mid shift.

Basic Qualifications Network Operations and Maintenance: Experience troubleshooting and configuring IP networks using at least one of the following routing methods: BGP, ISIS or OSPF, Static routing. - Experience troubleshooting either service provider or enterprise IP networks using an interface on Cisco (ESR and ASR) and/or Juniper routers. - Knowledgeable on ports and protocols.

Required Experience, Education, and Certifications:
• 8-10 years of IT experience with an IT related degree
• Ability to work independently
• DoD 8570 Level 2 IAT or equivalent (Security CE)

Desired Experience, Education, and Certifications:

  • CCNA or CCNP
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certified
  • Ability to communicate orally, and in writing, detailed technical information on troubleshooting and implementation efforts.
  • Familiarization of DOD regulations and directives.
  • Equally proficient in Juniper and Cisco configuration, troubleshooting, and design.
  • Experience with Cisco IOS XR, JUNOS, and Cisco IOS codes.
  • Perl or other language scripting capable of running backup configs and other scripting to pull information from Cisco/Juniper routers
  • IPSEC configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.
  • MPLS configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.
  • QoS configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.
  • Voice and video over IP configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.
  • IPV6 configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.
  • Security certification and/or knowledge of DDoS and other attack vectors experienced in today' networks.
  • Crypto configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.
  • Layer 2/3 VPN and Firewall knowledge and experience.
  • Physical cable plant and wiring experience.
