Responsible for associate development through training on policy & procedures. Creates a cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open and directs workforce to insure efficient workflow.
Involved in interview, hiring, review, discipline and termination process for day warehouse personnel.
Designate dock locations for inbound carriers based on dock availability, type of freight and time constraints to ensure the timely receipt of freight.
Ensure product is stocked in appropriate location, in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with food safety and FIFO processes & procedures to create space on the dock and ensure a smooth flow of work.
Monitor a variety of operational information on replenishment activity to ensure stock is available for the shipping shift to minimize/eliminate the potential for “shorts”.
Communicate with buyers on stock shorts, overages, and damages to correct problems and to reduce customer shortages.
Maintain physical condition and safety of warehouse and equipment, including preparing work orders for repairs and requisitions for equipment.
Champion safety procedures, processes and training to create and maintain a safety first culture in the warehouse.
Education/Training: High School or equivalent required; college degree preferred. PIT Certification preferred.
Related Experience: A minimum of 3 years warehouse distribution and 1 year of experience managing a hourly workforce required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Able to interpret financial and operational data; Basic computer skills; Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HAACP and other regulatory requirements; Strong leadership, communication and people development skills; broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and procedures.
