In the event of a vehicle accident or driver injury the dispatcher must notify the manager/supervisor in
charge and the safety specialist ASAP
Coordinate driver activities to resolve service issues. The main objective is to verify that the customer's needs are met in a prompt and professional manner.
Coordinate driver activities to minimize hours of service violations
Verify that drivers are following DOT requirements concerning DVIR's and hazmat
Verify that drivers are using Omnitracs properly
Assign backhauls as needed to be done in the most efficient manner possible
Coordinate trailer and tractor assignments
Estimate and record driver's daily departure time on the daily truck sheet
Communicate to the sales force and operations management if there are any concerns regarding service issues that may arise in the event of a late dispatch, break down, or other service failure
Reassign routes as needed
Visually inspect each driver’s appearance to verify that they are in proper uniform and have required PPE
Verify that all drivers have locks to secure their loads as needed
Coordinate shuttle assignments to minimize downtime and overtime
